Soft stretch canvas follows the shape of the foot without the stiffness of a traditional canvas shoe, while the flexible split sole allows excellent articulation through every tendu, relevé and jump. The So Danca SD16 Width D is the extra-wide member of the SD16 family. It keeps the lightweight stretch canvas, flexible split sole and clean drawstring-free construction of the classic SD16, but provides substantially more room for dancers whose feet feel restricted in standard or wide ballet shoe fittings.

That makes it an especially useful option for male dancers. Rather than forcing a broader or higher-volume foot into a narrow ballet silhouette, the D fitting allows the foot to sit more naturally inside the shoe while the stretch canvas continues to follow the arch and maintain a clean studio line.

Design & Performance

The premium stretch canvas upper adapts around the foot while the split suede sole allows the forefoot and heel to move independently. This creates excellent flexibility and articulation without adding unnecessary structure or weight.

A soft cotton lining keeps the inside comfortable against the foot, while the drawstring-free elastic binding creates a smooth, uncomplicated topline. Pre-sewn crossed elastics secure the shoe immediately, making the SD16 ready for class without additional sewing.

The defining difference is the D extra-wide fitting. Compared with the B medium and C wide versions, D provides considerably more room through the forefoot and metatarsals. This makes it particularly useful for broader adult feet and many male dancers, while retaining the familiar responsive character of the SD16.
