At the heart of the CH50 is its 1.5" wrapped character heel. The lower profile keeps the dancer closer to the floor and creates a reassuringly stable base, making it especially useful for musical theatre, school productions, character classes and performers who want the appearance of a traditional stage shoe without moving into a higher heel.

The smooth synthetic leather upper creates a polished theatrical finish, while the flattering vamp and adjustable instep strap help keep the foot securely positioned. Why a 1.5" heel?
Not every dancer needs,or wants - a 3" stage heel. CH50 keeps you closer to the floor, making it a brilliant working height for musical theatre, dance schools, rehearsals and productions where a lower heel is preferred. It's also a sensible place to begin if you're developing confidence dancing in heels.

Give them a little studio time.
Character shoes aren't trainers, and a new pair can feel more structured straight from the box. The CH50 settles with wear, so give them a few classes or rehearsals to soften and start feeling like your shoes rather than brand-new shoes.

Leather sole = classic character feel.
The genuine leather sole gives CH50 a firmer, more traditional connection with the floor. As dancers progress through different styles, they may also encounter suede soles, which offer a different balance of grip and glide, particularly useful for turns. Neither is automatically better; they simply create a different relationship with the floor.
