All shoes are displayed in UK sizes. The size printed on the shoe or box may differ due to the manufacturer's international sizing system.

Begin with your child’s measured foot size and compare it with the current So Danca size guide.

The TA04 should fit closely and securely. The toes should lie flat without curling, and the heel should remain stable when your child walks, rises onto the toes or performs gentle tap movements.

The regular width has a neat fit and may feel narrow on broader feet. Avoid adding excessive length to compensate for width, as a loose tap shoe can affect balance, control and sound.

A small amount of sensible growing room is acceptable, but the shoe should not slide around the foot.

Try the shoes with the same socks or tights your child will wear for class and test them on clean carpet only. Scratched or floor-worn tap plates cannot be accepted for return.

Care information

Wipe the vegan synthetic upper with a soft, slightly damp cloth and allow the shoes to air-dry naturally.

Do not use leather polish or conditioner. Do not machine wash, tumble dry or place near direct heat.

Keep the tap plates dry and inspect them regularly. Riveted taps should be assessed by an experienced dance-shoe or footwear specialist if they become loose.

Check the laces regularly and replace them if they become frayed or difficult to fasten securely.

Why Choose an Oxford Tap Shoe?

An Oxford tap shoe covers the whole foot and uses laces to adjust the fit across the instep. This traditional shape can feel more structured and secure than an open-instep or single-strap tap shoe.

The TA04 is particularly helpful for children who benefit from a closely adjustable fit. When the laces are fastened correctly, the shoe stays connected to the foot as the dancer walks, taps and changes direction.

Oxford shoes do require children or parents to tie the laces securely before class. For very young dancers who are not yet comfortable with laces, a buckle or Velcro tap shoe may be easier to manage independently.

How Should Children’s Tap Shoes Fit?

Tap shoes should feel close and secure without squeezing. Your child’s toes should lie naturally and flat inside the shoe, while the back should hold the heel securely when walking and tapping.

Always measure your child’s feet rather than using their current school-shoe or trainer size. Everyday footwear often already contains growing room, making it an unreliable guide for fitted dance shoes.
