Before Choosing Your Size

Take dancewear measurements over underwear or close-fitting clothing using a flexible tape measure. For shoes, measure both feet while standing and use the longer foot as your starting point.

Bust / Chest Measure around the fullest part of the chest, keeping the tape straight and level around the body.

Waist Measure around the natural waist, usually the narrowest part of the torso.

Hips Measure around the fullest part of the hips and seat, keeping the tape level.

Girth Start at one shoulder, measure down the front of the torso, through the crotch and back to the same shoulder in one continuous loop.

Foot Length Measure from heel to longest toe while standing. Measure both feet and use the longer measurement.

The So Danca JZ82 Children's Jazz Shoes are exceptionally light, soft and flexible – almost like a ballet shoe made for jazz. A soft leather front combines with a stretchy back and split suede sole, allowing the shoe to follow growing feet beautifully through pointing, turning and travelling movement.

With very little structure around the heel and an incredibly slim profile, JZ82 is a lovely choice for young dancers who enjoy feeling close to the floor and want plenty of freedom through the foot.

Made for Growing Jazz Dancers

The JZ82 is one of the softest and least structured jazz shoes in our collection. The leather forefoot provides gentle coverage around the toes, while the flexible stretch back wraps closely around the heel and arch without the firm heel cup found in a traditional jazz shoe.

Underneath, the split suede sole allows the middle of the foot to move freely and creates a smoother feeling against the dance floor. Combined with its barely-there 0.3" heel, JZ82 feels particularly light and natural – a quality young dancers coming from ballet may find especially familiar.

Available in Black and Caramel. Black is a classic studio choice, while Caramel creates a softer, uninterrupted line for performance. Always check your dance school's required shoe style and colour before ordering.

What's the Difference Between Suede and Rubber Jazz Shoe Soles?

Suede and rubber feel quite different on the dance floor. Rubber generally provides more traction, while suede creates a smoother surface that allows the dancer to turn, pivot and glide with less resistance.

JZ82 uses suede pads beneath both the forefoot and heel. This gives young dancers a particularly smooth connection with the floor and contributes to the shoe's light, almost ballet-shoe-like feeling.

Neither sole is automatically better – they simply create different sensations. The right choice may depend on your child's class, teacher, dance style and the flooring they regularly train on.

Dance World Tip

Don't expect a traditional firm heel cup. JZ82 is intentionally very soft around the back of the foot. When checking the fit, look for the stretch fabric to follow your child's heel comfortably as they walk and point rather than expecting the structured feeling of a conventional leather jazz shoe.

How Should Children's JZ82 Jazz Shoes Fit?

JZ82 should fit close enough to follow the foot without squeezing the toes. Because the back of the shoe is soft and stretchy, it can adapt comfortably to different foot shapes while still maintaining the sleek line this style is designed for.

Always measure your child's feet rather than using their current everyday shoe size. School shoes and trainers may already include growing room, so they are not a reliable starting point for fitting dance shoes.

Quick fit check: Ask your child to stand, walk and point both feet. The toes should lie naturally without curling, and the soft back of the shoe should remain comfortably connected to the heel rather than slipping noticeably away from it.
