Size & Fit Advice

Dance World converts manufacturer sizing into UK equivalents. The physical label may display the BLOCH letter size. Fit guidance is intended as a starting point; foot width, volume and preferred compression can affect the final choice.

The BLOCHSOX A1200 is designed for a close, supportive compression fit rather than the relaxed feel of an everyday sock.

If you are between two sizes, sit at the upper edge of a band or prefer less compression around the toes and arch, choose the larger option. Dancers with a broader or fuller foot may also find the larger adjacent size more comfortable.

When checking the fit:
The padded spin spot should sit beneath the working ball of the foot.
The heel should sit fully inside the padded heel area.
The compression arch should align with the natural arch rather than pulling towards the ankle.
The knit should lie smoothly without loose fabric or bunching.
The crew cuff should remain flat and secure without cutting into the leg.
Complete a controlled relevé and turn to confirm that the sock does not rotate around the foot.

A1200 should feel noticeably close when new, but the toes should remain relaxed rather than being compressed or curled.

Materials & Construction

Fabric: 67% Cotton • 27% Nylon • 4% Lycra • 2% Spandex

Turning Surface: Built-In Padded Spin Spot
Brake System: Two Forefoot Lines + Five Heel Lines
Internal Hold: Grip-Control Fibres
Arch: Enhanced Compression Knit
Heel: Additional Protective Padding
Cuff: Double-Welt Compression Construction

The sock uses separate internal and external working zones. The internal fibres help hold the fabric against the foot, while the spin spot and brake lines manage the relationship between the sock and studio floor.

Care information

Machine wash in cold water on a gentle cycle using mild detergent.

Do not use bleach or fabric conditioner. Fabric conditioner can coat the technical grip fibres and reduce their effectiveness.

Air dry naturally by laying flat or hanging away from direct heat and sunlight.

Do not tumble dry or iron, as excessive heat can affect the stretch fibres, compression and grip system.

Best For: Contemporary • Lyrical • Jazz • Modern • Turns & Leaps • Floorwork • Multi-Style Training

Description

All the intelligent grip-and-glide performance of BLOCHSOX in a shorter, cleaner profile, the BLOCHSOX A1200 Crew Length Dance Sock gives dancers the freedom of working in socks with considerably more control underneath the foot.

A padded spin spot supports smooth rotation, strategically placed brake lines help stabilise movement, and internal grip fibres keep the knit closely connected to the foot. Enhanced arch compression, heel cushioning and a secure crew cuff complete a compact dance sock built for turns, jumps and demanding studio training.

BLOCHSOX A1200 Crew Length Dance Socks – Personality & Colour

Crew-Length Freedom • Controlled Turns • Compression Support • Grip & Glide

The compact studio powerhouse. A1200 keeps everything that makes BLOCHSOX feel different from an ordinary sock, the engineered turning surface, controlled braking and supportive arch, but finishes in a shorter crew profile that feels particularly neat and easy through studio movement.

Pink adds an energetic, playful studio pop, Tan keeps the look soft and understated, while Black feels clean, strong and distinctly technical.

BLOCHSOX A1200 Crew Dance Socks – Design & Performance

The sole of A1200 is designed in separate performance zones rather than giving the dancer the same amount of grip everywhere. A built-in spin spot beneath the forefoot encourages smoother turning and gliding, with additional padding helping protect the working area during repeated rotation.

Behind that spin spot, two forefoot brake lines help the dancer regain control after a turn. Five additional lines around the heel support stabilisation through landings, directional changes and more challenging travelling movement.

Inside the sock, specially engineered grip-control fibres sit around the spin area. Their job is not to grip the studio floor; they help stop the sock sliding independently around the dancer's foot so the external working zones remain correctly positioned.

An enhanced compression arch hugs the midfoot, creating a held and supported sensation without adding rigid structure. It also keeps the knit closely shaped around the arch rather than allowing loose fabric to interrupt the line of the foot.

Additional heel padding softens pressure through jumps, landings and repeated studio impact, while the double-welt compression cuff keeps the shorter sock securely positioned without relying on an excessively tight opening.

The defining difference from the original BLOCHSOX is the silhouette. A1200 places the same dance-specific thinking into a shorter crew-length profile, making it an easy choice for dancers who want less fabric above the ankle without giving up the engineered sole beneath the foot.

Dance World Notes – BLOCHSOX A1200 Crew Length

The compact studio powerhouse.

The shorter cuff changes the look, not the purpose. A1200 still gives you the padded spin spot, braking zones and compression arch that define BLOCHSOX; it simply feels neater and less prominent above the ankle.

The available dancer feedback reflects that balance well. The shorter profile and supportive arch are particularly appreciated, while some dancers describe both the fit and grip as quite noticeable. Correct sizing, and knowing whether you enjoy a clearly engineered floor feel - matters here.

Our overall impression: A1200 is the easy choice for dancers who like BLOCHSOX technology but prefer a more compact sock silhouette. It is not a simplified version of the original; it delivers the same grip-and-glide philosophy in a shorter studio-ready shape.
