Take dancewear measurements over underwear or close-fitting clothing using a flexible tape measure. For shoes, measure both feet while standing and use the longer measurement as your general starting point.
BLOCH produces footwear for many different dance disciplines, so there is no single BLOCH shoe conversion that accurately predicts the fit of every model. Ballet, jazz, tap, character, contemporary, dancesport and studio shoes can all use different fitting recommendations. Use the international shoe tables above as a reference only and always follow the model-specific Dance World Fit Advice shown on the individual product page.

Description
Description
More technical than an ordinary sock and freer than a conventional dance shoe, BLOCHSOX A1000 Premium Dance Socks are designed for dancers who want to turn, glide, jump and move across the floor without losing the natural freedom of the foot.
The clever sole combines a dedicated spin spot with strategically positioned grip and brake lines, while compression through the arch and cushioning at the heel bring extra control and comfort. The result is a dance sock that feels wonderfully unrestricted but far more predictable underneath the foot.
BLOCHSOX A1000 Dance Socks – Personality
Controlled Turns • Compression Support • Full-Foot Freedom • Grip & Glide
The studio sock that changed the rules. BLOCHSOX keeps the easy, unrestricted feeling dancers love about working in socks, then adds control exactly where an ordinary sock tends to fall short.
Sand creates the most classic barefoot-inspired look, Mocha offers a warmer, deeper neutral, while Black feels strong, graphic and distinctly studio-led.
BLOCHSOX A1000 Contemporary Dance Socks – Design & Performance
The real intelligence of BLOCHSOX is underneath the foot. A dedicated spin spot is designed to encourage smoother turning, while strategically positioned brake and grip-control lines help the dancer regain traction when stability is needed.
This creates a much more considered relationship with the floor than a conventional sock. Instead of giving the same amount of grip everywhere, different areas of the sole are designed to support different phases of movement - release for turning, traction for control and stability for landing and directional changes.
An enhanced compression arch wraps closely around the midfoot for a more supported, connected feeling, while the padded heel adds comfort during repeated impact. The knitted construction remains highly flexible, allowing the toes, arch and ankle to move naturally without the structure of a conventional dance shoe.
For dancers moving between contemporary, lyrical, jazz and modern work, that combination makes BLOCHSOX particularly versatile: one lightweight piece of footwear capable of handling turns, jumps, travelling sequences and floorwork without sacrificing the freedom of dancing in socks.
BLOCHSOX A1000 Premium Dance Socks – Technical Profile
BLOCHSOX A1000 Contemporary Footwear DNA™
Our Dance World Footwear DNA™ highlights the five characteristics that define how Contemporary footwear feels.
Higher score ≠ better. Dance World Contemporary Footwear DNA™ shows the balance and feel of the footwear, helping dancers compare different constructions and choose what suits their movement and floorwork.
Dance World Notes – BLOCHSOX A1000
The studio sock that changed the rules.
This is one of those products where the engineering genuinely changes the experience. Ordinary socks can feel unpredictable on a dance floor; BLOCHSOX gives different areas of the foot different jobs, allowing the dancer to turn while still having traction available when it matters.
Dancers seem to notice exactly that. Feedback repeatedly describes the grip as a sweet spot between sticky and slippery, with dancers praising BLOCHSOX for turns, leaps, tricks and contemporary floorwork.
Our overall impression: A1000 is for dancers who love the freedom of dancing in socks but want considerably more predictability underneath the foot. It still feels like a sock - just a much more intelligent one.
