The premium genuine leather upper creates a secure professional fit and gradually softens around the foot with wear. A classic Oxford lace-up front allows precise adjustment across the instep, helping the shoe stay closely connected to the foot during fast rhythm work and directional changes.

Underneath, a double leather sole provides the density and resistance associated with professional tap footwear. Combined with the solid wood heel, this substantial construction helps produce greater tonal depth, volume and resonance than a lighter beginner or single-sole tap shoe.

Large pre-attached metal toe and heel taps provide a strong, consistent response for studio and stage work. Behind the toe tap, an attached rubber forefoot pad introduces extra slip resistance and a more controlled floor feel without interfering with the tap plate’s direct contact with the floor.

Leather or Rubber Underfoot? Exposed leather allows the shoe to travel more freely across the floor, which some tap dancers prefer for slides and travelling movement. A rubber pad increases friction, creating a more controlled and reassuring feel on smoother surfaces.

Dance World Tip: If you regularly work on polished or unfamiliar stages, the TA805’s additional grip can feel reassuring. If slides and a freer travelling action are central to your style, compare it with the TA815 before deciding. Try tap shoes on clean carpet only, as scratched or floor-worn taps cannot be accepted for return.
