General Size Advice for Grishko Dancewear
-
Girth is the Most Important Measurement
When selecting dancewear, the most relevant measurement is the girth (also known as torso length). To measure accurately, start at one shoulder, pass the tape measure through the legs, and bring it back to the same shoulder. This ensures the best fit for leotards and unitards. -
Size Up if in Doubt
If you find yourself between two sizes, we recommend choosing the larger size. A snug fit is essential, but dancewear should allow for flexibility and movement without restriction. -
Fabric Differences Affect Fit
- Lace leotards tend to have a smaller fit due to the fabric’s reduced elasticity. If you are considering a lace leotard, you may want to size up for a more comfortable fit.
- Tulle leotards offer a bit more stretch, making them slightly more forgiving in terms of sizing.
By following these guidelines, you can ensure the best fit and comfort for your dancewear. If you need further assistance, reach out for personalized advice.

Small Pins, Beautifully Neat Buns
The Grishko HA2002G Short Hair Pins provide controlled, discreet hold without overwhelming a smaller ballet bun. Measuring 5cm, they are especially useful for younger dancers, shorter or finer hair and anyone who prefers a compact, carefully shaped bun.
Grishko HA2002G 5cm Hair Pins – Compact Hold for Ballet Buns
The open hair-pin shape is designed to catch a small section from the outside of the bun before anchoring it into the hair beneath. This allows the pins to secure and shape the bun while remaining more discreet than a clip or flat bobby pin.
At 5cm / 2 inches long, HA2002G offers particularly good control when working with a smaller amount of hair. The shorter length is easier to position around compact buns and can feel less intrusive when longer pins are not required.
These pins are especially well suited to short-to-medium hair lengths and fine-to-medium textures, although the best pin length ultimately depends on the size and density of the finished bun. Dancers with thicker, longer hair may prefer Grishko’s medium or long hair pins, or use a combination of lengths.
Choose from Black, Blonde, Light Brown, Medium Brown or Dark Brown for a finish that blends more naturally into the hairstyle. Each pack contains 12 pins, presented in a clear storage pot with Grishko’s playful cat detail.
A compact choice when a neat bun does not need the reach of a longer hair pin.
A useful starting size for many younger dancers learning to prepare their ballet hair.
Keep them nearby for weekly lessons, examinations and performance preparation.
Twelve pins stay neatly together and are easy to spot inside a busy dance bag.
When a Shorter Pin Is the Smarter Pin
Not every dancer needs the longest hair pin available. For a child’s first ballet bun, a finer hair texture or a naturally smaller chignon, the 5cm length can be easier to control and position. It secures the shape without leaving unnecessary pin length hidden beneath a compact bun.
Product Highlight
📍 5cm Control for Smaller, Neater Ballet Buns
HA2002G is designed for precision where a longer pin may feel excessive. The compact open shape anchors smaller buns securely, while five hair-matching shades and a smooth coated finish help the pins remain discreet within the finished hairstyle.
Why We Recommend It
This is a particularly useful option for younger dancers and anyone with a smaller or finer bun. The shorter length is easy to position, while the open shape helps build and secure the bun itself rather than simply holding down surface flyaways.
Dance World Tip
Catch a small section from the outer edge of the bun with the open end of the pin, point it slightly away from the bun, then turn it back towards the centre and slide it into the ponytail base. Space the pins evenly around the bun rather than pushing them straight down through the middle, this creates a flatter, more secure shape with fewer visible pins.
