For Mara leotards, girth is one of the most useful measurements because it reflects the dancer's full torso length. If your measurements fall across different sizes, pay particular attention to girth. Dancers with a longer torso may be more comfortable in the larger size.

How to Measure for Mara Dancewear
Measure over underwear or close-fitting clothing using a flexible tape measure. Stand naturally and keep the tape comfortably against the body without pulling it tight.
Girth
Key MeasurementUsing a flexible tape measure, start at the centre of one shoulder. Bring the tape down the front of the torso, through the crotch and back up the body to the same shoulder, creating one complete loop.
Keep the tape comfortably close to the body without pulling it tight. The dancer should stand naturally while being measured.
Chest
Measure around the fullest part of the chest, keeping the tape straight and level around the body. Keep the tape comfortably against the body without compressing it.
Waist
Measure around the natural waist, usually the narrowest part of the torso. Keep the tape level and do not pull it too tightly.
Hips
Measure around the fullest part of the hips and seat while standing naturally. Keep the tape level all the way around the body.
Height
Stand straight without shoes, with feet flat on the floor, and measure from the floor to the top of the head.
Mara Dancewear uses different size structures depending on the garment. For leotards, compare chest, waist, hips and especially girth. For skirts, waist and hips are the most useful measurements. For warm-up pants, use waist and hips together with Mara's height guidance to choose between XS/S and M/L.

The Mara Dancewear Reversible Knit Ballet Top brings gentle warmth to class with long sleeves, a cropped fit and a choice of necklines. Wear the boat neck at the front for more coverage, or turn it around for a deeper scoop that shows the leotard underneath.
Mara Dancewear Reversible Knit Ballet Top – Design & Performance
The clever detail is the different neckline on each side. One side has a wide, shallow boat neck; the other has a deeper rounded scoop. Wear either at the front to change both the appearance and placement of coverage. With the boat neck forward, the scoop sits at the back. Turn the top front-to-back and the deeper opening frames your leotard's neckline instead.
The cropped body and long sleeves keep the silhouette neat without the volume of an oversized jumper. Unlike a bolero, this top places fabric across both the front and back of the torso, while the shorter hem avoids the extra length of a full jumper. There are no overlapping wrap panels or waist ties to arrange: simply pull it on over your dancewear.
Made from 48% viscose, 27% polyester, 21% nylon and 4% elastane, the soft rib-knit fabric has a gently textured surface and stretch for comfortable movement. This is the cosy layering knit used in the Studio Collection, not the firmer ribbed compression fabric of Mara Dancewear's leotards. Its role is to add softness and gentle warmth rather than sculpting support.
Made in Spain, it is a useful option when you want more torso coverage than the knit bolero but still prefer a light, cropped layer. The fine knit allows some of the dancewear beneath to remain visible, making it especially suited to layering over a leotard. Top only; the leotard shown is not included.

Eligible items can be returned for a refund within 30 days of receipt for EU orders, or 40 days for UK and other non-EU orders. Items must be in their original, resaleable condition, with tags and packaging. Product exclusions apply.
