How to Measure for a Leotard
Measure over underwear or close-fitting clothing using a flexible tape measure. Stand naturally and keep the tape comfortably against the body without pulling it tight.

Girth
Key MeasurementUsing a flexible tape measure, start at the centre of one shoulder. Bring the tape down the front of the torso, through the crotch and back up the body to the same shoulder, creating one complete loop.
Keep the tape close to the body without pulling it tight. The dancer should stand naturally while being measured.
Bust
Measure around the fullest part of the chest, keeping the tape straight and level around the body.
Waist
Measure around the natural waist, usually the narrowest part of the torso. Do not pull the tape too tightly.
Hips
Measure around the fullest part of the hips and seat, keeping the tape level.
Height
Stand straight without shoes and measure from the floor to the top of the head.
For leotards, girth is one of the most important measurements because it reflects the dancer's full torso length. If your measurements fall across different sizes, pay particular attention to girth. Dancers with a longer torso will often be more comfortable in the larger size.

Goleen Aisling Beginner Irish Dance Pumps - Full Sole Leather Shoes for First Irish Dancing Classes
Take the very first step into Irish dancing with confidence in the Goleen Aisling Beginner Irish Dance Pumps. Designed especially for new dancers, these traditional full sole pumps combine soft premium leather, a flexible construction and authentic Irish dance styling to help children and beginner adults develop correct technique from their very first class.
Aisling, the Irish word for dream or vision, is the perfect name for a dancer's first pair of pumps. From the excitement of a first lesson to a first feis, these shoes are made to support every step of the early Irish dancing journey.
Made from soft full-grain black leather, the Goleen Aisling offers immediate comfort with minimal break-in time. The traditional flat full leather sole encourages natural foot development, helping dancers build strength, balance and proper technique under the guidance of their teacher. Unlike advanced competition pumps, the Aisling is intentionally designed without additional cushioning or a pre-shaped arch, allowing young feet to develop naturally as skills progress.
The classic five-loop ghillie lacing system provides an authentic Irish dance appearance while allowing the shoe to be adjusted securely around the foot. A reinforced stitched heel counter helps maintain the shoe's shape and provides additional durability throughout months of regular classes, while leather reinforcement at high-wear contact points increases comfort and longevity.
Built specifically for approximately the first 12–18 months of Irish dance training, the Aisling is the ideal choice for beginners learning the fundamentals before progressing to more advanced competition shoes such as the Goleen Aria or Goleen Aura.
Whether attending weekly classes, preparing for a first grade examination or stepping onto the feis stage for the very first time, the Goleen Aisling provides the traditional feel, flexibility and quality trusted by Irish dancers and teachers.

Why Choose Full Sole Irish Dance Pumps?
Full sole Irish dance pumps remain the preferred choice for beginner dancers because they encourage the foot to work naturally. Without additional cushioning or built-in arch support, dancers gradually develop the strength, balance and articulation needed for future technical training. This traditional construction helps build solid foundations before progressing to split sole or advanced competition shoes.
Why Choose Goleen Irish Dance Shoes?
Designed by dancers, for dancers, Goleen footwear combines traditional craftsmanship with modern quality. Every detail of the Aisling has been carefully considered to create a reliable beginner shoe that supports proper technique without unnecessary extras. It's a shoe made for learning, growing and enjoying every milestone, from the excitement of a first lesson to the pride of a first feis.
