International shoe sizes can vary slightly between brands and models. Use your measured foot length as the best starting point, then compare it with the individual brand's size recommendation. Where a product page gives model-specific sizing advice, that guidance should always take priority over a general conversion chart.

Never choose a dance shoe from conversion alone. Ballet, jazz, ballroom and character shoes can fit very differently depending on the last, upper material, width and intended level of compression. Use this table to understand international equivalents, then follow the fit advice for the individual shoe.
How to Measure Your Feet for Dance Shoes
Measure both feet while standing, preferably later in the day. Use the longer foot when comparing your measurement with a shoe size chart.
Foot Length
Key MeasurementStand with your heel lightly against a wall and place your foot flat on a sheet of paper. Mark the end of your longest toe and measure the distance from the wall to the mark.
Measure in centimetres for the most accurate comparison with international shoe charts.
Measure Both Feet
Repeat the measurement on the other foot. It is very common for one foot to be slightly longer than the other, so always use the larger measurement when choosing your starting size.
Foot Width
Measure across or around the widest part of the forefoot. Width can be just as important as length in dance shoes, particularly in fitted ballet, jazz and ballroom styles.
Measure While Standing
Take measurements with your full weight on your feet. Standing allows the foot to spread naturally and gives a more realistic measurement than measuring while sitting.
Check the Dance Fit
A correctly fitted dance shoe should feel secure without restricting the toes or causing pressure. Different dance disciplines require different amounts of growing room, compression and heel security, so always follow the model-specific Dance World Fit Advice.
This chart is designed as an international reference rather than a replacement for individual brand sizing. Bloch, Capezio, So Danca, IDS, PortDance, Diamant and other dance footwear brands may use their own conversion systems or fit differently from standard street shoes. Always use the individual product's Dance World Fit Advice where available.

Description
Description
The Halmore Bubble Heel Irish Dancing Reel Shoes combine a soft black leather upper with a light split sole and a traditional 1½" solid bubble heel. Designed for intermediate and advanced dancers, they offer the close, flexible feel needed for reel steps, pointing and controlled heel work.
The supple upper settles around the foot with wear, while the bubble heel creates a rounded contact shape for finding heel clicks with confidence. This is a classic reel shoe for dancers who want freedom through the foot without losing the security of a proper lace-up Irish dancing fit.
Personality
Flexible • Traditional • Close-Fitting • Click-Ready
Halmore Bubble Heel Reel Shoes are made for dancers who prefer a soft, responsive shoe rather than a heavily structured hard shoe. The split sole follows the movement of the foot more easily through pointing and rising, while the solid heel adds the contact needed for rhythmic heel work.
Halmore Bubble Heel Reel Shoes – Design & Performance
The soft leather upper gives this reel shoe its immediately comfortable character. It sits close to the foot and gradually becomes more personal with class wear, helping the dancer keep a neat, connected line through the instep and ankle.
Underfoot, the light split sole allows the shoe to move naturally with the foot. This construction is particularly useful for dancers working on pointing, extending through the ankle and maintaining flexibility during fast reel steps.
The 1½" solid bubble heel provides a stable heel base with a rounded inner profile. This gives the dancer a more defined area for heel-click contact than a flat-sided heel, while retaining the traditional feel of a reel shoe.
A lace-up front allows the hold across the instep to be adjusted. The shoe should feel secure enough to move as one with the foot, without being tightened so much that the toes are compressed or the leather is strained.
Because the upper is intentionally soft, it should be treated with care. Missed or forceful heel clicks can mark, stretch or tear the leather over time, particularly around the inside heel and upper.

The Dance World Hard Shoe DNA™ compares the defining characteristics of every Irish dancing shoe. A higher score does not necessarily mean a better shoe - it shows the balance of sound projection, flexibility, lightness, support and break-in ease so dancers can choose the construction best suited to their level, technique and training needs.
Dance World Notes
Soft leather needs thoughtful use: The upper is designed to settle comfortably around the foot, but soft leather is more vulnerable to damage from missed clicks, forcing the shoe or wearing it loose.
Dance World Tip – Let the shoe settle naturally. Wear the shoes during controlled class practice and allow the leather to adapt gradually. Do not soak, heat, oil or forcefully bend them to speed up the process.
Halmore Bubble Heel Dance World Fit Advice
Close through the upper. Secure at the heel. Natural through the toes.
Reel shoes should fit closely enough to stay connected to the foot during pointing, rising and heel work, without painfully compressing the toes. The widest part of the foot should sit at the widest part of the shoe, and the heel should remain securely seated.
Irish dancing shoes should be checked while standing, walking, pointing and performing gentle class movements. A teacher or professional fitter can help confirm that the heel placement and overall fit are correct before regular use.
