International shoe sizes can vary slightly between brands and models. Use your measured foot length as the best starting point, then compare it with the individual brand's size recommendation. Where a product page gives model-specific sizing advice, that guidance should always take priority over a general conversion chart.

Never choose a dance shoe from conversion alone. Ballet, jazz, ballroom and character shoes can fit very differently depending on the last, upper material, width and intended level of compression. Use this table to understand international equivalents, then follow the fit advice for the individual shoe.
How to Measure Your Feet for Dance Shoes
Measure both feet while standing, preferably later in the day. Use the longer foot when comparing your measurement with a shoe size chart.
Foot Length
Key MeasurementStand with your heel lightly against a wall and place your foot flat on a sheet of paper. Mark the end of your longest toe and measure the distance from the wall to the mark.
Measure in centimetres for the most accurate comparison with international shoe charts.
Measure Both Feet
Repeat the measurement on the other foot. It is very common for one foot to be slightly longer than the other, so always use the larger measurement when choosing your starting size.
Foot Width
Measure across or around the widest part of the forefoot. Width can be just as important as length in dance shoes, particularly in fitted ballet, jazz and ballroom styles.
Measure While Standing
Take measurements with your full weight on your feet. Standing allows the foot to spread naturally and gives a more realistic measurement than measuring while sitting.
Check the Dance Fit
A correctly fitted dance shoe should feel secure without restricting the toes or causing pressure. Different dance disciplines require different amounts of growing room, compression and heel security, so always follow the model-specific Dance World Fit Advice.
This chart is designed as an international reference rather than a replacement for individual brand sizing. Bloch, Capezio, So Danca, IDS, PortDance, Diamant and other dance footwear brands may use their own conversion systems or fit differently from standard street shoes. Always use the individual product's Dance World Fit Advice where available.

Description
Description
The PortDance FASHION Dance Practice Shoe proves that a serious training shoe doesn't have to look serious. Soft black nubuck is mixed with breathable mesh and tiny black sequins, creating a practice shoe that catches the light without wandering anywhere near competition-shoe territory.
Underneath the sparkle, though, FASHION is very much built to work. A full suede dance sole, low cushioned heel and removable footbed create a grounded, comfortable platform for Ballroom and Latin practice, teaching and long evenings of social dancing.
PortDance FASHION Practice Shoe Personality
Playful • Grounded • Comfortable • Just a Little Sparkly
This is PEDRO's more outgoing friend. FASHION keeps the practical low-heel shape dancers love for training, then adds sheer mesh and tonal black sequins that quietly come alive when the shoe moves. It's fun without being flashy, and particularly lovely for dancers who want their practice shoes to feel a little less utilitarian.
PortDance FASHION Sequin Practice Dance Shoes – Design & Performance
FASHION combines panels of soft black nubuck with breathable mesh and tonal sequins, giving the upper a supple feel while allowing more airflow than a completely closed practice shoe. The lace-up front lets you adjust the shoe securely through the instep, which is particularly useful when you're working through quick changes of direction and detailed footwork.
Unlike some highly articulated practice trainers, this particular FASHION model uses a full suede dance sole. That gives it a more continuous feeling beneath the foot while still providing the controlled glide dancers expect from suede. Turns and pivots remain smooth, but the shoe retains a reassuringly grounded character.
A removable cushioned insole softens the feel underfoot, while lightweight EVA cushioning through the low heel helps absorb impact during longer sessions. The result is a shoe that feels much more forgiving than dancing for several hours in higher Ballroom or Latin heels, without disconnecting you from the floor.
And that little bit of sparkle isn't purely decorative in effect. Against the matte nubuck, the black sequins catch just enough light to give FASHION a polished look for social dancing as well as the studio - useful when practice turns into an evening out.

PortDance FASHION Practice Shoe DNA
Our Dance World Practice Shoe DNA highlights the five characteristics that define how FASHION feels to dance in, helping dancers compare its overall character with other practice and social dance shoes.

The Dance World Practice Shoe DNA compares the defining characteristics of practice and social dance shoes. A higher score does not necessarily mean a better shoe - it shows the balance of comfort, stability, flexibility, floor control and support so dancers can choose the feel that best suits their dancing.
Dance World Notes
Yes, practice shoes are allowed to be pretty.
There is absolutely no technical reason your hardworking shoes need to be boring. We like how PortDance has kept the sequins tonal and tucked them beneath black mesh - they appear as you move rather than shouting from across the studio.
Full sole matters here.
If you prefer feeling a continuous surface beneath the foot rather than the highly articulated sensation of a split-sole trainer, FASHION is particularly interesting. It still moves easily, but there's a little more continuity and connection under the arch.
This could easily become your social-dance shoe too.
Not everybody wants to spend a whole Salsa, Bachata or Kizomba night in high heels. FASHION gives you proper suede-floor response and a much more forgiving heel, while the sequin finish means it doesn't look like you've accidentally worn your rehearsal shoes out for the evening.
Dance World Expert Tip
Keep a suede sole brush in your dance bag. Suede gradually compresses and collects residue from the floor, which changes how quickly the shoe moves. A few careful passes with a dance-shoe brush can restore the nap and make a surprisingly noticeable difference to the grip.
