Size & Fit Advice

All shoes are displayed in UK sizes. The size printed on the shoe or box may differ due to the manufacturer's international sizing system.

Regural Fit. We recommend you order your shoe size.
Regular medium fit.

Tap shoes should fit closely and securely. Your child’s toes should lie flat without curling, while the heel should remain stable when walking or tapping.
Avoid excessive growing room. Shoes that are too large can move around the foot, reduce control and make it more difficult to produce a clean tap sound.
Measure both feet and use the longer measurement when checking the BLOCH size guide. Try the shoes with the same socks or tights your child will wear for class.

Try the shoes on clean carpet only. Tap plates showing scratches or floor wear cannot be accepted for return.

Description

The BLOCH S0330 Junior Timestep Tap Shoes are a supportive and reassuring choice for children beginning tap. A structured full sole, low heel and secure two-eyelet front tie provide a steady base, helping young dancers concentrate on timing, coordination and their first rhythmic steps.

A shock-absorbing cushioned insock adds comfort during regular classes, while pre-attached BLOCH Techno toe and heel taps provide a clear, audible response. Practical, lightweight and ready to wear, the S0330 is ideal for early dance training, rehearsals and first performances.

Made for First Tap Steps

Young tap dancers need a shoe that feels stable without becoming unnecessarily heavy. The S0330 combines a structured full sole with a manageable low heel, helping children learn how to transfer their weight and control the toe and heel independently.

The durable synthetic leather upper is finished with supportive canvas binding, while the adjustable two-eyelet front tie helps keep the shoe securely connected to the foot. Inside, a soft antibacterial sock helps manage moisture and the cushioned insock softens repeated impact during lessons and practice.

The classic Black finish works naturally with most tap uniforms and performance clothing. Always check your dance school’s required shoe colour and style before ordering.

Why Choose a Full-Sole Tap Shoe?

A full-sole tap shoe has one continuous sole running beneath the foot. This creates a more structured base than a flexible split-sole shoe and provides useful resistance while young dancers develop strength, balance and control.

The S0330 is particularly suitable for beginners because its supportive construction helps children feel where their weight is placed as they learn their first taps, shuffles and toe-and-heel combinations.

BLOCH Techno Taps produce a clear, bright response, making it easier for young dancers to hear their timing without the additional weight or powerful resonance of a professional double-sole tap shoe.

How Should Children’s Tap Shoes Fit?

Tap shoes should fit closely and securely without squeezing. Your child’s toes should lie naturally and flat inside the shoe, while the back should hold the heel securely when walking and tapping.

Always measure your child’s feet rather than using their current everyday shoe size. School shoes and trainers often already contain growing room, making them an unreliable starting point for fitted dance footwear.

For the S0330, use the measured foot length together with the current BLOCH size guide.
Choose a secure fit without excessive growing room.

Try the shoes with the same socks or tights your child will wear for class. Shoes that are too large may slide around the foot, reducing control and making it more difficult to create a clean tap sound.

Quick fit check: Ask your child to walk, rise onto the toes and perform a few gentle toe-and-heel movements. The toes should remain flat and the heel should not noticeably lift or slide.

Dance World Size Guide is intended as a helpful starting point. Every child’s feet are unique, so fit may vary depending on foot shape, width, growth and personal preference. Test tap shoes on clean carpet only, as scratched or floor-worn tap plates cannot be accepted for return.

Choosing tap shoes for a growing dancer doesn’t need to be complicated. If you’re unsure about sizing or whether a full-sole tap shoe is right for your child, our Dance World team is always happy to help you choose the right pair before you order.
