Before Choosing Your Size

Take dancewear measurements over underwear or close-fitting clothing using a flexible tape measure. For shoes, measure both feet while standing and use the longer foot as your starting point.

Bust / Chest Measure around the fullest part of the chest, keeping the tape straight and level around the body.

Waist Measure around the natural waist, usually the narrowest part of the torso.

Hips Measure around the fullest part of the hips and seat, keeping the tape level.

Girth Start at one shoulder, measure down the front of the torso, through the crotch and back to the same shoulder in one continuous loop.

Foot Length Measure from heel to longest toe while standing. Measure both feet and use the longer measurement.

Should Children's Jazz Shoes Feel Snug?

Yes – a jazz shoe should feel close and secure rather than loose like an everyday trainer. A close fit helps the shoe move with the foot, gives the teacher a clearer view of your child's footwork and creates the clean line dancers want when pointing.

Snug should never mean cramped. Your child's toes should lie naturally without curling or being squeezed, and the heel should remain securely in place as they walk and point. JZ77's stretchy instep helps create that close feeling while still allowing the foot to move comfortably.

How Should Children's JZ77 Jazz Shoes Fit?

Jazz shoes should fit much closer than everyday trainers or school shoes. The toes should lie naturally inside the shoe, while the heel should remain securely held as your child moves.

Always measure your child's feet rather than using their current everyday shoe size. School shoes and trainers often already contain growing room, so using that size can result in a jazz shoe that is too large.

For the JZ77, choose approximately ½ UK size above the measured foot
Enough growing room for most young dancers while maintaining a secure fit

Quick fit check: Ask your child to stand, walk, point both feet and rise onto the toes. The toes should remain comfortable and the heel should move with the foot rather than lifting out of the shoe.
