Care information

Keep the ribbons clean and dry and allow pointe shoes to air naturally after classes and rehearsals.

If necessary, gently spot clean using cool water and allow the ribbon to air dry completely. Avoid machine washing, tumble drying, bleach, ironing and direct heat.

Inspect the satin, elastic inserts and stitching regularly. Replace the ribbons if they become badly frayed, permanently stretched or no longer remain securely attached.

Ribbons may sometimes be reused.

Before Choosing Your Size

Take dancewear measurements over underwear or close-fitting clothing using a flexible tape measure. For shoes, measure both feet while standing and use the longer measurement as your general starting point.

Bust / Chest Measure around the fullest part of the chest, keeping the tape straight and level.

Waist Measure around the natural waist, usually the narrowest part of the torso.

Hips Measure around the fullest part of the hips and seat, keeping the tape level.

Girth Start at one shoulder, measure down the front of the torso, through the crotch and back to the same shoulder in one continuous loop.

Foot Length Measure from heel to longest toe while standing. Measure both feet and use the longer measurement as your general starting point.

A Traditional Ribbon Feel with Give at the Heel

The BLOCH A0525 Elastorib Pointe Shoe Ribbon combines classical satin with a carefully positioned elastic insert. Most of the ribbon retains a familiar, secure wrapping feel, while the flexible section responds to movement behind the ankle.

BLOCH A0525 Elastorib Ribbon – Design & Pointe Shoe Use

A0525 is made from single-faced satin ribbon with an elastic section sewn into each pre-cut length. Once wrapped, the satin creates a neat classical appearance while the elastic is positioned behind the Achilles.

The targeted elastic section gives as the ankle and heel flex and extend. This helps the ribbon follow changes in foot position when moving from plié through demi-pointe and onto pointe, with less unnecessary pulling or bagginess.

Unlike a fully stretch ribbon, most of A0525 retains the familiar feel of traditional satin. This makes it an appealing middle ground for dancers who want some flexibility behind the heel but still prefer a more conventional wrap around the front and sides of the ankle.
