International shoe sizes can vary slightly between brands and models. Use your measured foot length as the best starting point, then compare it with the individual brand's size recommendation. Where a product page gives model-specific sizing advice, that guidance should always take priority over a general conversion chart.

Never choose a dance shoe from conversion alone. Ballet, jazz, ballroom and character shoes can fit very differently depending on the last, upper material, width and intended level of compression. Use this table to understand international equivalents, then follow the fit advice for the individual shoe.
How to Measure Your Feet for Dance Shoes
Measure both feet while standing, preferably later in the day. Use the longer foot when comparing your measurement with a shoe size chart.
Foot Length
Key MeasurementStand with your heel lightly against a wall and place your foot flat on a sheet of paper. Mark the end of your longest toe and measure the distance from the wall to the mark.
Measure in centimetres for the most accurate comparison with international shoe charts.
Measure Both Feet
Repeat the measurement on the other foot. It is very common for one foot to be slightly longer than the other, so always use the larger measurement when choosing your starting size.
Foot Width
Measure across or around the widest part of the forefoot. Width can be just as important as length in dance shoes, particularly in fitted ballet, jazz and ballroom styles.
Measure While Standing
Take measurements with your full weight on your feet. Standing allows the foot to spread naturally and gives a more realistic measurement than measuring while sitting.
Check the Dance Fit
A correctly fitted dance shoe should feel secure without restricting the toes or causing pressure. Different dance disciplines require different amounts of growing room, compression and heel security, so always follow the model-specific Dance World Fit Advice.
This chart is designed as an international reference rather than a replacement for individual brand sizing. Bloch, Capezio, So Danca, IDS, PortDance, Diamant and other dance footwear brands may use their own conversion systems or fit differently from standard street shoes. Always use the individual product's Dance World Fit Advice where available.

Description
Description
Not every dancer wants height, and not every foot wants a narrow ballroom shoe. The Freed of London Emerald is designed for dancers who want room, stability and an exceptionally manageable heel without giving up the pleasure of wearing something special on the dance floor.
Freed Emerald Personality
Classic Black • Multicolour Sparkle • Polished • Cheerful
Emerald knows exactly how much sparkle it needs. The predominantly black finish keeps the shoe versatile and easy to wear, while tiny multicoloured reflective details scattered across the ruched vamp introduce flashes of colour as the foot moves.
It is a clever combination for dancers who don't necessarily want a metallic or highly decorative ballroom shoe but still want something more interesting than plain black. The effect is elegant, friendly and just a little celebratory.
Freed Emerald Ballroom Shoes – Design & Performance
The defining feature of Emerald is its EE wide fitting. Rather than asking a broader foot to squeeze into a standard ballroom shape, the shoe provides additional room through the forefoot while retaining the secure structure needed for dancing.
A closed toe surrounds and protects the forefoot, while the T-bar runs centrally up the foot to an adjustable buckle strap. Together they create a reassuringly contained fit that can be particularly appealing to dancers who feel less comfortable in open Latin sandals.
The 3.5cm low heel keeps the foot relatively close to the floor, reducing the amount of pitch compared with conventional ballroom heels. This makes Emerald especially approachable for beginners, social dancers, dancers returning to heels and anyone whose priority is stability during longer periods on the dance floor.
The soft suedette upper is finished with Freed's contrasting ruched vamp overlay and multicolour sparkle detail, while the full suede dance sole allows the shoe to turn and travel smoothly across suitable indoor dance floors.

Dance World Notes
Comfort is really the point.
This isn't a shoe pretending to be a high-performance Latin sandal. Emerald is at its best for dancers who want to enjoy an evening of dancing without spending the evening thinking about their shoes.
Dance World Fit Advice
Overall Fit
Emerald is an EE wide-fitting shoe with noticeably more room through the forefoot than a standard-width ballroom style. For genuinely wider feet, we recommend beginning with your usual UK dance shoe size and assessing the fit through the forefoot, heel and T-bar.
Medium to Narrow Feet
Because Emerald is intentionally generous, dancers with medium or narrower feet may find their regular size too roomy. Our current recommendation is to consider approximately half a size down.
Closed-Toe Fit
The toes should sit naturally inside the shoe without pressure or excessive empty space. The heel should remain secure as you walk and dance.
Dance World sizing recommendations are intended as a starting point. Dance shoe fit is individual and can vary with foot width, toe shape, instep height and personal preference.
