How to Measure Your Feet for Dance Shoes

Measure both feet while standing, preferably later in the day. Use the longer foot when comparing your measurement with a shoe size chart.

Foot Length

Key Measurement

Stand with your heel lightly against a wall and place your foot flat on a sheet of paper. Mark the end of your longest toe and measure the distance from the wall to the mark.

Measure in centimetres for the most accurate comparison with international shoe charts.

Measure Both Feet

Repeat the measurement on the other foot. It is very common for one foot to be slightly longer than the other, so always use the larger measurement when choosing your starting size.

Foot Width

Measure across or around the widest part of the forefoot. Width can be just as important as length in dance shoes, particularly in fitted ballet, jazz and ballroom styles.

Measure While Standing

Take measurements with your full weight on your feet. Standing allows the foot to spread naturally and gives a more realistic measurement than measuring while sitting.

Check the Dance Fit

A correctly fitted dance shoe should feel secure without restricting the toes or causing pressure. Different dance disciplines require different amounts of growing room, compression and heel security, so always follow the model-specific Dance World Fit Advice.

Using This Conversion Guide

This chart is designed as an international reference rather than a replacement for individual brand sizing. Bloch, Capezio, So Danca, IDS, PortDance, Diamant and other dance footwear brands may use their own conversion systems or fit differently from standard street shoes. Always use the individual product's Dance World Fit Advice where available.

Dance World Fit Note International shoe conversions are approximate and can vary between manufacturers, lasts and shoe styles. RP AKOYA LITE FL Pointe Shoes are part of RP’s Sea of Pearls Collection, designed with a tapered box, medium platform and streamlined heel. This specific product is the FL - Flexible Light Shank version of AKOYA, with a low V1 vamp.

AKOYA LITE combines pre-arched construction, a medium crown and a pliable Flexible Light shank. Its hand-sculpted, pleated platform, U-cut drawstring and natural leather sole create the model’s clean, precise pointe-shoe profile.

RP AKOYA LITE FL Pointe Shoes – Design & Performance

AKOYA LITE is a hand-sculpted pointe shoe with a tapered box that narrows from the metatarsal area towards the heel. Its medium crown, medium toe platform and streamlined heel create the distinct AKOYA shape, while the pre-arched construction follows the line of the foot en pointe.

This page is specifically for the FL - Flexible Light Shank configuration with a V1 low vamp. The pliable FL shank is one of AKOYA’s individual technical options and should only be selected when it matches the dancer’s professionally fitted RP specification.

RP AKOYA LITE FL Pointe Shoe Construction

AKOYA LITE uses RP’s hand-sculpted and pleated construction, with a pre-arched profile designed to follow the line of the foot. Its tapered box, medium crown, medium platform and streamlined heel remain consistent across the AKOYA model; this version is defined by its V1 low vamp and FL - Flexible Light Shank.

The Sea of Pearls Collection uses lining made from recycled materials and ocean-bound plastic, while the collection packaging contains no plastic.

Pointe Shoe Fitting, Size & Reordering Tip: AKOYA LITE FL must be selected in person with a qualified fitter and your teacher’s guidance. This is the FL - Flexible Light Shank version with a V1 low vamp, so always reorder using the full model name and specification. The size selector shows the UK size followed by its EU conversion - for example, UK 4 is EU 36. Confirm your professionally fitted size, width, vamp and FL shank before ordering. Ribbons and elastics are sold separately.
