Take dancewear measurements over underwear or close-fitting clothing using a flexible tape measure. For shoes, measure both feet while standing and use the longer foot as your starting point.
So Danca makes a wide range of dancewear and footwear, so fit can vary between styles. For garments, use the measurement chart that matches the wearer and product category. For tights, compare both height and weight. For dance shoes, use the international conversion table as a reference only and always follow the model-specific Dance World Fit Advice shown on the individual product page.
JZE16 Full Sole Leather Lace-Up Jazz Shoes • Beginner Friendly - Black / 1 UK is backordered and will ship as soon as it is back in stock.
Best For Beginner Jazz • Developing Dancers • Musical Theatre • Dance School • Technique Class • Dancers Preferring a Structured Full Sole
Description
Description
Traditional, structured and reassuringly grounded, the So Danca JZE16 Full Sole Leather Jazz Shoe is designed for dancers who want more resistance beneath the foot than a modern split-sole jazz shoe. Soft leather combines with adjustable lacing and a continuous rubber sole to create a secure, dependable training shoe.
Particularly well suited to beginners and developing dancers, JZE16 encourages the foot to work against the sole rather than giving immediate freedom through the arch, a very different feeling from its more flexible sister shoe, the JZE09.
Personality
Traditional • Structured • Grounded • Dependable
JZE16 has a wonderfully traditional dance-school character. Available in Black and White, it is particularly useful where a classic uniform or performance colour is required. Black is the familiar studio choice, while White remains important for specific school, costume and stage requirements. Always check school, college or production colour requirements before ordering.
So Danca JZE16 Full Sole Jazz Shoes – Design & Performance
The defining feature of JZE16 is its continuous full rubber sole. Unlike a split-sole jazz shoe, there is no open flexible section beneath the arch. The sole runs underneath the entire foot, creating noticeably more resistance and structure as the dancer points and works through movement.
That resistance is intentional. JZE16 is particularly useful for beginners and developing dancers, or simply for dancers who prefer to feel something more substantial beneath the foot. Rather than immediately folding into the arch, the shoe asks the foot to work against the sole as it moves.
This does mean that flexibility and articulation are considerably lower than in JZE09 or our stretch and split-sole models. The line through a deeply pointed foot is less sculpted, and dancers accustomed to very flexible modern jazz shoes may find JZE16 surprisingly firm. For the right dancer, however, that traditional resistance is exactly the appeal.
The soft leather upper gradually relaxes and moulds with wear, while the lace-up construction allows the fit to be adjusted across the instep and width. A cotton lining adds softness inside the shoe, helping balance the firmer feeling created by the full sole.
Underneath, the textured rubber creates a broad, continuous contact area with the dance floor. This gives JZE16 particularly strong traction and a stable, grounded sensation – another reason it remains a useful choice for dancers learning the foundations of jazz technique.

The Dance World Jazz Shoe DNA™ compares the defining characteristics of every jazz shoe. A higher score does not necessarily mean a better shoe - it shows the balance of comfort, flexibility, articulation, grip and floor feel so dancers can find the shoe that best suits their training and performance needs.
Dance World Notes
JZE09 or JZE16? They look like close relatives, but feel very different. Choose JZE09 for greater flexibility and articulation from its split sole; choose JZE16 when you specifically want the firmer, more traditional feeling of a full sole.
Dance World Tip - Don't judge JZE16 by how easily you can bend it in your hands. This isn't designed to behave like a super-flexible split sole. Its purpose is to provide more resistance and a broad, grounded rubber contact beneath the foot – particularly useful while developing control and strength.
So Danca JZE16 – Dance World Fit Advice
True to measured foot size across the range.
For adult, advanced, student and beginner dancers, we recommend starting with true to measured foot size. JZE16 should feel comfortably close without cramping the toes, with the heel securely held inside the shoe.
The adjustable lacing allows the fit to be refined across the instep and width, while the leather will gradually soften and mould around the foot with regular wear.
Dance World Fit Note: Always start from the dancer's measured foot, not their everyday shoe size. There is no need to size up simply because JZE16 initially feels firmer than a split-sole jazz shoe – much of that sensation comes from the full sole itself.
Fit advice is a guide only. Foot shape, width and preferred performance fit can affect the best size for each dancer.
