The So Danca MDE16 Reversible Half Sole takes one of the simplest pieces of contemporary footwear and gives it a surprisingly clever twist: two different working surfaces in one shoe.
Wear it one way for the feel of soft leather beneath the forefoot, then reverse the construction to bring suede into contact with the floor. Stretch nylon-spandex wraps closely around the foot, while three toe openings and an open heel preserve the natural articulation and freedom dancers expect from a minimalist half sole.

The two-sided turner. MDE16 is unusual because its personality can actually change with the dancer. Rather than committing to one working surface, the reversible construction lets you experiment with leather or suede depending on the floor, combination and feel you prefer.
Caramel gives the minimalist construction a warm, natural finish that sits quietly against the bare foot.

The standout feature is undoubtedly the reversible dual-sided sole. One orientation brings soft leather into play, while reversing the half sole reveals suede as the working surface. The result is a rare opportunity to experiment with two different floor relationships without changing footwear.
That difference matters because leather and suede do not behave identically against a studio floor. Rather than declaring one side the "better" option, MDE16 lets the dancer discover which surface gives the right combination of security, glide and feedback for the floor and movement being worked on.
The upper is made from flexible nylon-spandex, keeping the fit close and responsive rather than shoe-like. Three openings at the front allow the toes to remain exposed, while an additional opening over the top of the foot removes unnecessary material and allows the foot to bend and articulate freely.
There is no covered heel or conventional arch structure. MDE16 concentrates its protection beneath the working forefoot and leaves the remainder of the foot largely unrestricted - exactly what we want from contemporary footwear designed around a barefoot line.
