Fit: The Diamant 179 generally fits true to size and is specifically designed to offer a roomier fit than Diamant’s regular-width men’s models.

Width: H – wide fitting.

Best Suited To: Wider feet, fuller forefeet and dancers with a higher instep who benefit from an adjustable open-lace shoe.

Between Sizes: Most dancers can begin with their usual UK dance shoe size. If you are between sizes and require additional length as well as width, consider choosing the next half size up.

Heel Fit: Even in a wide shoe, the heel should remain securely positioned with minimal lifting during movement. Use the Derby lacing to adjust the fit evenly across the instep.

Break-In: The genuine nappa leather will soften gradually and mould more closely to the foot, but the shoe should feel comfortably secure rather than painfully tight when new.

These shoes are designed for clean indoor dance floors. Correct care will help protect the nappa leather upper and maintain the performance of the suede sole.

Brush the suede outsole regularly with a specialist dance shoe brush.
Brush carefully from the toe towards the heel to lift compressed suede fibres.
Wipe the leather upper with a soft, slightly damp cloth after use.
Apply a suitable nappa leather conditioner occasionally to help maintain softness.

There is nothing complicated about 179 – and that's its strength. Smooth black leather, a plain toe and traditional Derby lacing give it the kind of timeless appearance that works just as easily for weekly lessons as it does with formal Ballroom clothing.

Diamant 179 Men's Ballroom Shoes – Design & Performance

The 179 is constructed in a classic plain Derby style, with open 4-hole lacing that allows the two sides of the upper to separate more freely than a closed Oxford construction. That extra adjustment is particularly useful for dancers with broader feet or a fuller instep.

This model is made in Diamant's H wide fitting – roomier than a regular men's Ballroom shoe without moving into the extra-wide K fitting used on some other Diamant styles.

The upper is made from premium Italian black nappa leather, chosen for its soft, refined feel and ability to gradually adapt around the foot with wear. Inside, breathable and moisture-absorbing Italian microfibre helps maintain comfort through longer lessons and social evenings.

Underfoot, a traditional suede dance sole provides controlled glide across indoor dance floors, while the low 2cm shock-absorbing Ballroom heel creates a stable, grounded platform for smooth travelling movement, turns and changes of direction.
