Size & Fit Advice

Use your body measurements rather than your everyday clothing size. If your measurements fall between sizes, we generally recommend choosing the larger size.

Dance World Measuring Guide

How to Measure for a Leotard

Measure over underwear or close-fitting clothing using a flexible tape measure. Stand naturally and keep the tape comfortably against the body without pulling it tight.

1

Girth

Key Measurement

Using a flexible tape measure, start at the centre of one shoulder. Bring the tape down the front of the torso, through the crotch and back up the body to the same shoulder, creating one complete loop.

Keep the tape close to the body without pulling it tight. The dancer should stand naturally while being measured.

2

Bust

Measure around the fullest part of the chest, keeping the tape straight and level around the body.

3

Waist

Measure around the natural waist, usually the narrowest part of the torso. Do not pull the tape too tightly.

4

Hips

Measure around the fullest part of the hips and seat, keeping the tape level.

5

Height

Stand straight without shoes and measure from the floor to the top of the head.

Dance World Tip

For leotards, girth is one of the most important measurements because it reflects the dancer's full torso length. If your measurements fall across different sizes, pay particular attention to girth. Dancers with a longer torso will often be more comfortable in the larger size.
