For Mara leotards, girth is one of the most useful measurements because it reflects the dancer's full torso length. If your measurements fall across different sizes, pay particular attention to girth. Dancers with a longer torso may be more comfortable in the larger size.

How to Measure for Mara Dancewear
Measure over underwear or close-fitting clothing using a flexible tape measure. Stand naturally and keep the tape comfortably against the body without pulling it tight.
Girth
Key MeasurementUsing a flexible tape measure, start at the centre of one shoulder. Bring the tape down the front of the torso, through the crotch and back up the body to the same shoulder, creating one complete loop.
Keep the tape comfortably close to the body without pulling it tight. The dancer should stand naturally while being measured.
Chest
Measure around the fullest part of the chest, keeping the tape straight and level around the body. Keep the tape comfortably against the body without compressing it.
Waist
Measure around the natural waist, usually the narrowest part of the torso. Keep the tape level and do not pull it too tightly.
Hips
Measure around the fullest part of the hips and seat while standing naturally. Keep the tape level all the way around the body.
Height
Stand straight without shoes, with feet flat on the floor, and measure from the floor to the top of the head.
Mara Dancewear uses different size structures depending on the garment. For leotards, compare chest, waist, hips and especially girth. For skirts, waist and hips are the most useful measurements. The Mara Dancewear Aura Total Black sleeveless ballet leotard combines supportive ribbed fabric, a high zip neckline and a rounded open back. Unlike the contrast-trimmed Black version, its body, edging and zip are all black, creating an uninterrupted studio look with exceptionally soft front lining for comfort through class and rehearsal.
Mara Dancewear Aura Total Black Sleeveless Ballet Leotard – Design & Performance
Aura's signature front zip becomes a quieter detail in Total Black. Matching the body rather than contrasting with it, the functional black zip lets you wear the neckline closed for a neat high-neck finish or partly open for a little more space around the neck. The sleeveless cut keeps the arms uncovered while retaining a more enclosed front than a traditional camisole.
From behind, a large rounded cut-out opens beneath the shoulder panel. Tonal black binding follows the edge without introducing another colour, making the shape of the opening the main feature. The back is genuinely open, with no mesh insert across it, while a high-cut ballet leg continues the clean silhouette below.
Made in Spain, Aura uses 78% nylon and 22% elastane ribbed performance fabric. Fine vertical ribbing adds texture to the monochrome finish, and the supportive compression creates a reassuringly held-in feel through the torso. Four-way stretch allows the fabric to follow movement, with shape retention designed to maintain the close fit through regular training.
The full front lining is exceptionally soft against the skin, balancing the firmer ribbed exterior with a comfortable inner surface. Made from 86% nylon and 14% elastane, it adds coverage through the front without lining the entire garment. Together with the dark outer fabric, it gives Total Black reassuring opacity while preserving the open-back design.

Eligible items can be returned for a refund within 30 days of receipt for EU orders, or 40 days for UK and other non-EU orders. Items must be in their original, resaleable condition, with tags and packaging. Product exclusions apply.
