Never choose a dance shoe from conversion alone. Ballet, jazz, ballroom and character shoes can fit very differently depending on the last, upper material, width and intended level of compression. Use this table to understand international equivalents, then follow the fit advice for the individual shoe.
How to Measure Your Feet for Dance Shoes
Measure both feet while standing, preferably later in the day. Use the longer foot when comparing your measurement with a shoe size chart.
Foot Length
Key MeasurementStand with your heel lightly against a wall and place your foot flat on a sheet of paper. Mark the end of your longest toe and measure the distance from the wall to the mark.
Measure in centimetres for the most accurate comparison with international shoe charts.
Measure Both Feet
Repeat the measurement on the other foot. It is very common for one foot to be slightly longer than the other, so always use the larger measurement when choosing your starting size.
Foot Width
Measure across or around the widest part of the forefoot. Width can be just as important as length in dance shoes, particularly in fitted ballet, jazz and ballroom styles.
Measure While Standing
Take measurements with your full weight on your feet. Standing allows the foot to spread naturally and gives a more realistic measurement than measuring while sitting.
Check the Dance Fit
A correctly fitted dance shoe should feel secure without restricting the toes or causing pressure. Different dance disciplines require different amounts of growing room, compression and heel security, so always follow the model-specific Dance World Fit Advice.
This chart is designed as an international reference rather than a replacement for individual brand sizing. Bloch, Capezio, So Danca, IDS, PortDance, Diamant and other dance footwear brands may use their own conversion systems or fit differently from standard street shoes. Always use the individual product's Dance World Fit Advice where available.

Some jazz shoes are designed to disappear on the foot. The En Huit Silver Glitter Jazz Shoes most definitely are not. Covered in shimmering silver glitter, this fun full-sole style is made for young dancers, dance-school shows and performances where the shoes deserve their own little moment in the spotlight.
Beneath all that sparkle is a traditional construction: an adjustable lace-up upper, soft inner lining and structured full rubber sole provide a secure, grounded feel for jazz, musical theatre and stage routines.

There is absolutely no pretending this is a subtle jazz shoe, and that's exactly why we love it. The holographic silver glitter catches the stage lights beautifully and turns an otherwise traditional lace-up jazz silhouette into something much more playful. Perfect when the costume calls for sparkle, a little drama and shoes that are very much part of the performance.
En Huit Glitter Jazz Shoes – Design & Performance
Underneath the sparkle, this is actually a fairly traditional jazz-shoe construction. The synthetic glitter upper is combined with a lace-up front, allowing the fit to be adjusted across the instep while keeping the shoe securely positioned during movement.
The upper is narrower and noticeably more structured than many of our soft leather or stretch-canvas jazz shoes. It does not immediately mould around the foot in the same way as JZ75 or JZ76, and dancers with broader feet should be particularly mindful of the fit.
Underneath, a continuous full rubber sole runs from forefoot to heel. Like the So Danca JZE16, this creates considerably more resistance beneath the arch than a split-sole jazz shoe. Flexibility and articulation are therefore deliberately limited, giving the shoe a firmer, more traditional dance-school feel.
The benefit is excellent traction. The broad rubber contact area creates a reassuringly grounded base for young dancers learning choreography, travelling across the floor and performing on stage.
This isn't intended to be an ultra-flexible professional jazz shoe – its strengths are much simpler: secure lacing, dependable grip, traditional full-sole structure and an enormous amount of sparkle.

The En Huit Glitter Jazz Shoe has a narrower, firmer upper than many of our leather and stretch jazz shoes and is only available in whole sizes. Across the size range, we recommend starting 1 full UK size above the dancer's measured foot.
Dance World Fit Note: Always start from the dancer's measured foot, not their everyday shoe size. Even when sizing up, the heel should remain securely held and the dancer should be able to walk and point without the shoe slipping.
Fit advice is a guide only. Foot shape, width and preferred fit can affect the best size for each dancer.
