Mondor uses Canadian age-based sizing, which can feel different from the numbered gymnastics sizes commonly used in Europe. For the best fit, use the body measurements rather than choosing by age alone. For leotards, girth is particularly important because it reflects the full length of the torso.
From our fitting experience, Mondor's 8–10 generally feels closest to approximately a The Zone size 28. We use this only as a familiar reference for customers - it is not an official brand-to-brand size conversion.

Do not choose Mondor leotards from the age label alone. The Canadian age notation can fit differently from the European gymnastics sizing many customers are familiar with. Use girth first, then bust/chest and waist, and treat the age as a secondary reference.
How to Measure for Mondor Gymnastics Leotards
Measure over underwear or close-fitting clothing using a flexible tape measure. Stand naturally and keep the tape comfortably against the body without pulling it tight.
Girth
Key MeasurementStart at the centre of one shoulder. Bring the tape down the front of the torso, through the crotch and back up to the same shoulder in one complete loop.
For Mondor leotards, girth is the most useful measurement when age and body measurements suggest different sizes.
Bust / Chest
Measure around the fullest part of the bust or chest, keeping the tape level around the body without compressing it.
Waist
Measure around the natural waist, usually the narrowest part of the torso. Keep the tape comfortably close and level.
Hips
Measure around the fullest part of the hips and seat while standing naturally. Keep the tape level all the way around.
Height
Stand straight without shoes, with feet flat on the floor, and measure from the floor to the top of the head.
Mondor does not use height in this garment chart, but it can help when considering overall proportions and torso length.
Mondor's Canadian size labels can appear larger or smaller than expected when compared with familiar European age or numbered gymnastics sizes. Dance World therefore recommends choosing from the actual measurement chart rather than the age printed on the garment. Our familiar-size references are based on fitting experience and are intended to help customers interpret the chart, not replace Mondor's published measurements.

Mondor SEA 27822 Sleeveless Gymnastics Leotard – Design & Performance
The 80% polyester and 20% elastane fabric gives this leotard its flexible stretch for reaching, bending and practising skills. The sleeveless tank shape leaves the arms uncovered, while a Sorbtek gusset helps move moisture away from the skin in the gusset area.

What Is a Sorbtek Gusset?
A gusset is a small panel of fabric sewn into the area between the legs of a leotard. On this SEA style, that panel uses Sorbtek fabric, which is designed to help move moisture away from the skin in this area.
A comfortable fit should still let your child reach and bend freely. When trying the leotard on, ask them to lift both arms overhead and bend gently. There should be no uncomfortable pulling at the shoulders or leg openings. Use their measurements and the size guide to choose, with particular attention to torso girth.
