Size & Fit Advice

All shoes are displayed in UK sizes. The size printed on the shoe or box may differ due to the manufacturer's international sizing system.

Runs small.

Adult & Advanced: approximately ½–1 UK size up from measured foot.
Students & Growing Teens: approximately ½–1 UK size up, using the upper end where sensible growing allowance is required.
Young Dancers: approximately 1–1½ UK sizes up from measured foot.

Always start from the dancer's actual measured foot, not their current everyday trainer or school-shoe size.

The heel and instep should remain secure and the foot should not slide inside the trainer during turns, jumps or directional changes.

Care information

Spot clean the mesh upper with a soft damp cloth and mild detergent where necessary. Avoid soaking or machine washing.

Allow the trainers to air dry naturally away from direct heat. Check the outsole and spin spot regularly for wear, particularly when the shoes are used frequently for high-impact training.

Studio use recommended: Bloch's non-marking dance outsole is designed for dance-floor use rather than outdoor wear.

Description

Some dance trainers specialise. The Bloch S0538 Boost Dance Trainer does almost everything. From Irish dance practice and jazz to commercial, hip hop, teaching and fitness, this long-standing Dance World bestseller combines serious cushioning and support with the flexibility and turning response dancers need from a proper studio trainer.

Substantial enough for repeated impact yet surprisingly articulate through the foot, Boost is the trainer we come back to when a dancer wants one dependable shoe capable of handling a very mixed training schedule.

Bloch S0538 Boost Practice Shoe Personality

Cushioned • Powerful • Versatile • Studio-Proven

Boost isn't trying to look like a delicate dance shoe. In Black, it has the unmistakable attitude of a proper dance sneaker – sporty, substantial and ready to work. It's the shoe you throw into the dance bag when you don't quite know where the day's training is going to take you.

Bloch S0538 Boost – Design & Performance

The S0538 Boost is built very differently from an ordinary sports trainer. Its split, non-marking outsole separates the forefoot and heel sections, allowing considerably more articulation through the arch while still providing a substantial platform beneath the areas taking the greatest impact.

Under the forefoot, Bloch uses a high-density outsole with a dedicated spin spot. This reduces the resistance dancers experience during pivots and 360-degree turns – one of the most important differences between a purpose-built dance trainer and an everyday rubber-soled sneaker.

The heel is where Boost really earns its reputation for comfort. Bloch combines its D.R.T cushioned heel with a lightweight 4 PSI air-cushioned midsole, helping absorb repeated impact during jumps, travelling sequences and longer training sessions. A compression-moulded EVA sock liner adds another layer of cushioning directly beneath the foot.

Support hasn't been sacrificed for all that movement. Boost is made on a high-arch last with built-in arch support and elevation, while the variable lacing system allows dancers to adjust the shoe more precisely through the instep. This gives the trainer a much more connected feeling than simply wearing a conventional fitness shoe for dance.

The lightweight mesh construction keeps the upper breathable, while Bloch's Dri-Lex lining is designed to manage moisture and resist odour and mildew – particularly useful for a trainer that tends to accumulate a lot of studio hours.

What makes Boost special isn't any single feature. It's the balance. There is enough cushioning for impact-heavy training, enough structure for confidence, enough articulation for jazz and commercial work, and a turning surface that doesn't fight the dancer every time choreography changes direction.

Dance World Notes

The genuine all-rounder.
Boost is difficult to put into one dance box. We see it working across everything from Irish dance practice and jazz to commercial, hip hop, teaching and dance fitness – exactly why it has remained such a dependable Dance World bestseller.

Support is one of its strongest cards.
That high-arch last, built-in elevation and adjustable lacing make Boost particularly interesting for dancers who like to feel securely held rather than simply wearing the lightest possible shoe.

Dance World Tip - Don't compare the size number with your everyday trainers. Boost is well known for fitting small. Measure the foot first and use the fit adjustment below rather than assuming your normal trainer size will translate directly.

Bloch S0538 Boost – Dance World Fit Advice

Boost runs small – allow for it from the measured foot.

Adult & Advanced Dancers: Start approximately ½–1 UK size above the measured foot. Choose the closer end for a more connected performance fit and the upper end where foot shape or comfort requires a little more room.

Students & Growing Teens: We generally recommend ½–1 UK size above the measured foot. For a growing dancer, the upper end can provide a little sensible allowance, provided the heel remains secure and the foot does not slide inside the trainer.

Young Dancers: Start approximately 1–1½ UK sizes above the measured foot. This accounts for Boost's naturally small fit while allowing appropriate room for a growing foot.

Dance World Fit Note: Always start from the dancer's measured foot, not their current school shoe or everyday trainer size. Even with growing room, Boost should feel secure through the heel and instep without the foot sliding independently inside the shoe.

Fit advice is a guide only. Foot shape, width, socks and preferred dance fit can affect the best size for each dancer.
