International shoe sizes can vary slightly between brands and models. Use your measured foot length as the best starting point, then compare it with the individual brand's size recommendation. Where a product page gives model-specific sizing advice, that guidance should always take priority over a general conversion chart.

Never choose a dance shoe from conversion alone. Ballet, jazz, ballroom and character shoes can fit very differently depending on the last, upper material, width and intended level of compression. Use this table to understand international equivalents, then follow the fit advice for the individual shoe.
How to Measure Your Feet for Dance Shoes
Measure both feet while standing, preferably later in the day. Use the longer foot when comparing your measurement with a shoe size chart.
Foot Length
Key MeasurementStand with your heel lightly against a wall and place your foot flat on a sheet of paper. Mark the end of your longest toe and measure the distance from the wall to the mark.
Measure in centimetres for the most accurate comparison with international shoe charts.
Measure Both Feet
Repeat the measurement on the other foot. It is very common for one foot to be slightly longer than the other, so always use the larger measurement when choosing your starting size.
Foot Width
Measure across or around the widest part of the forefoot. Width can be just as important as length in dance shoes, particularly in fitted ballet, jazz and ballroom styles.
Measure While Standing
Take measurements with your full weight on your feet. Standing allows the foot to spread naturally and gives a more realistic measurement than measuring while sitting.
Check the Dance Fit
A correctly fitted dance shoe should feel secure without restricting the toes or causing pressure. Different dance disciplines require different amounts of growing room, compression and heel security, so always follow the model-specific Dance World Fit Advice.
This chart is designed as an international reference rather than a replacement for individual brand sizing. Bloch, Capezio, So Danca, IDS, PortDance, Diamant and other dance footwear brands may use their own conversion systems or fit differently from standard street shoes. Always use the individual product's Dance World Fit Advice where available.

Description
Description
Responsive beneath the foot and built to carry a dancer forward, the Goleen Flint GL60 Featherflexi ProStep Irish Dancing Jig Shoes are the natural intermediate progression from a structured first hard shoe. They retain Goleen’s familiar, clear sound while introducing the flexibility, toe reinforcement and floor connection a trained foot has earned.
Soft full-grain leather combines with a flexible black suede sole, reinforced toe box, Featherflexi™ contoured insole and Goleen’s matched EchoDrive™ and EchoBase™ sound platform. Flint is the bridge between the beginner Ember GL50 and the championship-focused Onyx GL70.
Personality
Responsive • Clear-Sounding • Progressive • Floor-Connected
Flint is where the shoe begins to listen more closely to the dancer. The flexible suede sole moves with a trained foot rather than resisting it, giving dancers greater articulation, faster response and a more direct sense of the floor beneath every rhythm.
Goleen Flint GL60 Jig Shoes – Design & Performance
The Flint GL60 takes the matched acoustic platform of the beginner Ember GL50 and develops the construction beneath the foot for intermediate-level training. The EchoDrive™ high-density resin tip and EchoBase™ heel remain the same, allowing dancers to keep the familiar bright tip strike and clean heel sound they have already trained with.
The key upgrade is the flexible black suede sole. Running in full coverage from the forefoot to the heel seat, it allows a trained foot to articulate, drive and feel the floor more clearly. As the sole moves with the dancer’s step, rhythm can become cleaner, faster and more responsive.
Inside, the Featherflexi™ insole has been recalibrated for this flexible sole. It remains lightweight and contoured, providing considered underfoot support without taking away the floor feel needed at intermediate level.
The reinforced toe box is introduced at this stage because toe stands and more demanding footwork may begin to enter the dancer’s training. It provides additional structure at the front of the shoe, while the partial instep bubble in the EchoBase™ heel introduces transitional geometry that helps prepare the foot for more advanced championship constructions.
Flint remains comfortable from first wear, with a soft full-grain leather upper, four-eyelet lace-up front and single buckle ankle strap. It is designed to settle naturally with class wear: no soaking, forced bending or artificial softening required.

Goleen Flint GL60 Hard Shoe DNA™

●●●○○
●●●○○
●●●●●
The Dance World Hard Shoe DNA™ compares the defining characteristics of every Irish dancing jig shoe. A higher score does not necessarily mean a better shoe- it shows the balance of sound projection, flexibility, lightness, support and break-in ease so dancers can choose the construction best suited to their level, technique and training needs.
Dance World Notes
Toe reinforcement at the right stage: Flint introduces a reinforced toe box for dancers beginning more demanding footwork and developing toe stands. It supports that progression but does not replace the strength, alignment and teacher approval required for toe work.
Dance World Tip – Wear, don’t force. Flint is supplied ready to move. Let the leather and suede settle during normal class and competition wear; do not soak it, bend it aggressively or use direct heat to make it softer.
Goleen Flint GL60 Dance World Fit Advice
Secure at the heel. Close across the upper. Natural through the toes.
Flint should fit securely around the foot without painful compression. The toes should lie naturally inside the shoe, with the longest toe reaching close to the front without being tightly curled or forced hard against the tip.
The four-eyelet lacing should hold the shoe securely across the instep, and the ankle strap should provide additional security without being overtightened to compensate for a loose fit.
Hard shoes should be checked while standing, walking, rising and performing gentle clicks on a clean, protected surface. Keep the tips, heels and sole completely unmarked until the fit has been approved.
