How to Measure for Mara Dancewear
Measure over underwear or close-fitting clothing using a flexible tape measure. Stand naturally and keep the tape comfortably against the body without pulling it tight.
Girth
Key MeasurementUsing a flexible tape measure, start at the centre of one shoulder. Bring the tape down the front of the torso, through the crotch and back up the body to the same shoulder, creating one complete loop.
Keep the tape comfortably close to the body without pulling it tight. The dancer should stand naturally while being measured.
Chest
Measure around the fullest part of the chest, keeping the tape straight and level around the body. Keep the tape comfortably against the body without compressing it.
Waist
Measure around the natural waist, usually the narrowest part of the torso. Keep the tape level and do not pull it too tightly.
Hips
Measure around the fullest part of the hips and seat while standing naturally. Keep the tape level all the way around the body.
Height
Stand straight without shoes, with feet flat on the floor, and measure from the floor to the top of the head.
Mara Dancewear uses different size structures depending on the garment. For leotards, compare chest, waist, hips and especially girth. For skirts, waist and hips are the most useful measurements. For warm-up pants, use waist and hips together with Mara's height guidance to choose between XS/S and M/L.

Mara Dancewear Brisa Coral Ballet Leotard – Design & Performance
Brisa is one of Mara's most pared-back designs, which means every line matters. The front falls into a soft V neckline with a delicate gathered pinch at the centre of the bust. It's a small detail, but a clever one: the gathering softens the neckline and gives definition to the front without adding seams, panels or decoration.
The straps are slightly wider than a traditional camisole strap, creating a more secure feel over the shoulders while still leaving the arms completely unrestricted. From behind, those straps continue into a beautifully deep rounded back, exposing the shoulder blades and creating an elongated, uninterrupted line through the spine.
Unlike Mara's signature ribbed collection, Brisa uses the brand's smooth soft-touch nylon and elastane performance fabric. The result is less compressive and more fluid against the body, with four-way stretch that responds easily through plié, port de bras, extensions and floor work.
The clean construction lets that fabric do much of the work. It sits smoothly across the torso with a gently sculpting feel rather than firm compression, while the high-cut leg opens the hip line and visually lengthens the legs.

Brisa feels like the kind of leotard that disappears once class begins. The smooth four-way stretch fabric follows the body easily, while the sleeveless cut and open back leave the shoulders completely free through port de bras.
We especially like the balance of the neckline. The V is feminine without being excessively low, and the small centre pinch keeps it distinctly ballet rather than making the design feel like generic activewear. Add the soft lining and this is a very easy style to imagine wearing through class, coaching and rehearsal in the same day.

Brisa proves that simple dancewear doesn't have to feel basic. The proportions are beautifully considered, the pinch front gives just enough softness, the open back shows the dancer's lines and the smooth performance fabric keeps everything clean and comfortable.
We can see this becoming one of those leotards that spends very little time in the drawer. And in Coral, it has just enough personality to make an everyday studio uniform feel special.
Brisa Coral Colour Story
Coral is where Brisa really comes alive. Rather than a bright tropical coral, Mara has chosen a soft, dusty ballet interpretation - somewhere between warm rose, muted salmon and antique pink.
