For Mara leotards, girth is one of the most useful measurements because it reflects the dancer's full torso length. If your measurements fall across different sizes, pay particular attention to girth. Dancers with a longer torso may be more comfortable in the larger size.

How to Measure for Mara Dancewear
Measure over underwear or close-fitting clothing using a flexible tape measure. Stand naturally and keep the tape comfortably against the body without pulling it tight.
Girth
Key MeasurementUsing a flexible tape measure, start at the centre of one shoulder. Bring the tape down the front of the torso, through the crotch and back up the body to the same shoulder, creating one complete loop.
Keep the tape comfortably close to the body without pulling it tight. The dancer should stand naturally while being measured.
Chest
Measure around the fullest part of the chest, keeping the tape straight and level around the body. Keep the tape comfortably against the body without compressing it.
Waist
Measure around the natural waist, usually the narrowest part of the torso. Keep the tape level and do not pull it too tightly.
Hips
Measure around the fullest part of the hips and seat while standing naturally. Keep the tape level all the way around the body.
Height
Stand straight without shoes, with feet flat on the floor, and measure from the floor to the top of the head.
Mara Dancewear uses different size structures depending on the garment. For leotards, compare chest, waist, hips and especially girth. For skirts, waist and hips are the most useful measurements. For warm-up pants, use waist and hips together with Mara's height guidance to choose between XS/S and M/L.

Mara Dancewear Long Mesh Ballet Skirt – Design & Movement
The beauty of this skirt begins with the fabric. Mara Dancewear uses a fine, soft-touch mesh with four-way stretch, allowing the material to respond naturally as the dancer moves rather than feeling rigid or overly costume-like.
At approximately 26 inches through the back, the longer silhouette creates considerably more movement than a conventional short ballet skirt. The mesh floats through turns, follows travelling steps and introduces a beautiful sense of motion around the legs while remaining light enough for everyday studio use.
The transparency is equally important. Rather than completely hiding the dancer's line, the sheer mesh allows the leotard and legs to remain visible underneath. For teachers, coaching and rehearsal, that makes the skirt much more practical than a heavy opaque layer.
There are no ties to arrange and no wrap front to shift during class. A simple pull-on construction and elasticated waistband make it quick to put on, comfortable at the waist and easy to remove between combinations.

Studio Experience
This is where the longer length really earns its place. During adagio and port de bras, the skirt creates a soft continuation of the dancer's movement. During turns and travelling combinations, the mesh responds with considerably more sweep and fluidity.
Yet underneath all that movement, the dancer's line remains visible. That balance makes it particularly lovely for variations, repertoire and rehearsal, when you want some of the feeling of a costume without actually rehearsing in one.
