Slip the fabric sleeve over the big toe, positioning the shaped gel between the big and second toes. Smooth the sleeve so it sits comfortably without folds or tightness.

Check the fit inside your intended shoes. Your toes should have enough room for the spacer without feeling squeezed. Remove it if it causes pinching, numbness or discomfort.

For pointe shoes, have your fitter assess the spacer together with your usual padding. One size does not mean it will suit every foot or shoe.

The Tech Dance TH022 Gel Toe Spacers combine soft gel with an attached fabric sleeve for targeted separation between these first two toes.

Tech Dance TH022 – Gel Spacing to Support Big-Toe Alignment

The shaped gel sits between the big and second toes, helping maintain their separation while worn. For a dancer whose big toe moves towards its neighbour under load, an appropriately fitted spacer can help limit that sideways movement. The gel also cushions contact between the toes, helping reduce rubbing and local pressure.

Why does alignment matter? Hallux valgus, commonly associated with bunions, involves the big toe angling towards the other toes. Toe spacers can be used as part of an individual plan to support its position and manage discomfort. For dancers concerned about bunions, the spacer should work alongside suitable shoes, foot strength and good technique, with professional advice where needed.
