Description

Find Your Range. Build the Strength to Use It.

A beautifully controlled extension brings flexibility and strength together. The FlexiStretcher by FLX gives dancers a practical way to work on both, combining adjustable straps with an elastic centre for stretching and resistance exercises.

Originally created by former professional dancer Rachel Hamrick, this popular training tool has dance at the heart of its design. Keep it ready for focused conditioning sessions, familiar mobility exercises and the thoughtful practice that supports your work in class.

FLX FlexiStretcher – Adjustable Support for Stretching and Strength

The FlexiStretcher combines adjustable nylon straps and end loops with a central elastic section. The straps establish the length and contact points for your exercise, while the elastic provides resistance as you move.

Metal sliders let you alter the strap length and loop size. The hardware helps hold your chosen adjustment, while rubber retaining stoppers help prevent the sliders from coming off the straps. A soft neoprene sleeve cushions the central section where it contacts the body.

This construction brings a different setup to your training kit from a simple continuous loop band: you can adjust the straps to the exercise while keeping the elastic section centred. It gives you defined loops to work with and padding at the central contact area.

Training Format Adjustable straps with an elastic centre
Training Focus Flexibility • Strength • Control • Mobility

Take Your Routine Along

A compact tool to bring to classes, workshops and practice sessions away from home.

From Your Practice Mat to Your Dancing

There is something satisfying about giving one movement your full attention: setting your position, feeling the resistance and finding a smoother return. With the FlexiStretcher, a short session can focus on those details. The adjustable straps let you prepare a familiar setup, while the padded centre adds comfort as you revisit the exercises your teacher has selected. It is a useful way to give the quieter work between classes a little more structure.

Three Ways to Use It in Your Training

Active Flexibility

Explore guided stretches that include muscular effort against the elastic. Your teacher can help you choose positions that suit your mobility and maintain alignment.

Strength & Control

Work against resistance in selected leg, arm and whole-body exercises, paying attention to a steady movement and controlled release.

Gentle Mobility

Use an appropriate setup for comfortable movement on quieter training days. Choose the exercise and effort to match how your body feels.

Flexibility work can include contract-relax techniques, where a muscle contracts against resistance before relaxing. These methods are best learned with a qualified instructor who can guide the position, effort and timing.

For recovery following an injury or surgery, use the FlexiStretcher only within a programme agreed with your physiotherapist or treating clinician.

Find the Right Starting Length

Adjust the FlexiStretcher before beginning an exercise. For the same position, shorter straps generally create more initial tension. Start with a longer setting and make small adjustments until you find a manageable challenge. Adjust both sides evenly so the elastic remains in the centre.

Your setting may change between exercises. Look for a length that lets you breathe normally and control the full movement without being pulled out of alignment.

Train Smart

Warm up first and follow the FLX instructions for each exercise. Inspect the straps, stitching, elastic and hardware before use. Move slowly, keep the equipment securely positioned and never allow the elastic to snap back.

Never place any part of the FlexiStretcher around your neck. In exercises where the centre pad contacts the foot, position it around the arch. When an exercise uses both loops on one foot, follow the prescribed placement around the centre of the foot, not the ankle. Children under 12 require supervision.

Avoid forcing turnout, splits or a higher extension. Stop if you experience pain, tingling, numbness or loss of control.

Product Highlight

🩰 Adjustable Fit Meets Active Resistance

The FlexiStretcher brings together adjustable nylon loops, a padded elastic centre and a design developed for dancers, giving you a versatile tool for flexibility practice and strength work in one compact format.

Why We Recommend It

We recommend it for dancers who want to make conditioning a regular part of their routine. The adjustable setup and cushioned centre are useful details when working through different exercises, while the elastic resistance encourages attention to muscular effort and control. It is particularly appealing when you have a teacher-led programme and want a familiar tool to practise with between sessions.

Dance World Tip

When your teacher finds a suitable adjustment for an exercise, take a quick reference photo of the strap lengths. Check that the centre stays balanced when you recreate it. Keep a separate reference for each exercise, and give the return movement as much attention as the stretch or press.
