Avoid rough or uneven flooring. Check for cracks, sharp edges or a loose or damaged pad, and stop using the disc if damaged.

Description

A Little More Focus in Every Turn.

The Tech Dance TH108 Ballet Disc gives dancers a compact platform for working on the details of a pirouette. Positioned beneath the ball of the foot, it allows turning practice with the heel raised in demi-pointe, bringing attention to balance, spotting and coordination.

Keep it in your dance bag for focused exercises with your teacher, whether your current goal is a clearer spot, a steadier supporting leg or a more deliberate finish.

Tech Dance TH108 Ballet Disc – Design for Demi-Pointe Practice

The small circular shape supports the ball of one foot while the heel remains lifted. This makes foot placement and supporting-leg control an active part of the exercise.

A padded upper surface cushions the contact beneath the forefoot, while the smooth plastic underside allows the disc to rotate on suitable flooring. Its simple, compact construction makes it easy to carry with your usual technique accessories.

The disc changes the friction beneath your supporting foot, so the preparation can feel different from a regular pirouette. Begin gently and work within the amount of rotation you can control, using your teacher’s feedback to refine the movement.

Practise with Your Heel Raised

The forefoot platform brings demi-pointe positioning into your guided turning exercises.

Comfort Beneath the Forefoot

A padded top provides cushioning at the supporting foot’s contact point.

Focus on Your Turning Cues

Use selected exercises to explore spotting, placement and how your arms coordinate.

Easy to Keep Close

The small disc slips into your dance bag for classes, workshops and technique sessions.

A Clearer Focus for Your Next Pirouette

Some of the most satisfying practice sessions begin with one correction that suddenly makes sense. Perhaps your arms arrive together, your gaze finds its spot sooner or your finish feels less hurried. The TH108 gives you another way to explore that correction with your teacher, keeping your attention on how the movement feels from preparation through to the final position.

Make Each Attempt Useful

  • Preparation: Establish a familiar starting position and use a measured amount of force, adjusting to how freely the disc moves on the chosen surface.
  • Spotting: Choose a clear visual reference and practise returning your gaze to it as part of your teacher’s exercise.
  • Alignment: Notice whether your torso stays centred over the supporting leg as your arms and working leg move.
  • The finish: Give stopping and leaving the disc with control the same attention as the rotation.

Follow disc work with familiar preparations and turns directly on the studio floor. Applying the same cues in both settings helps keep the practice connected to your dancing. The number of rotations on a disc does not directly predict the number you can perform in a regular pirouette.

Train Smart

Ask your teacher to check your readiness, footwear and foot placement before using the disc. Warm up first and practise on suitable smooth, level flooring with plenty of clear space. Check with the studio before using turning equipment on its floor.

Keep the underside clean and free from grit. Inspect the disc and pad before each session, and stop using it if either becomes damaged. Begin with a small, controlled rotation and increase the challenge gradually. Younger dancers need supervision. Stop if you experience pain, dizziness or loss of control.

Product Highlight

🩰 A Padded Turning Platform for Demi-Pointe Practice

TH108 combines a compact forefoot platform, a cushioned upper surface and a smooth rotating base, creating a practical tool for teacher-guided work on spotting, balance and turning coordination.

Why We Recommend It

We recommend it for dancers who already have a foundation in demi-pointe balance and want another way to explore their teacher’s turning corrections. Its small format is easy to bring into a focused session, particularly when preparation, spotting and a controlled finish are the goals.

Dance World Tip

Choose one cue before you begin and keep it for the session. It might be finding your spot or finishing with your arms in a clear position. Then revisit that same cue in a familiar turn on the floor, so you can notice what carries over into your regular technique.
