Never choose a dance shoe from conversion alone. Ballet, jazz, ballroom and character shoes can fit very differently depending on the last, upper material, width and intended level of compression. Use this table to understand international equivalents, then follow the fit advice for the individual shoe.
How to Measure Your Feet for Dance Shoes
Measure both feet while standing, preferably later in the day. Use the longer foot when comparing your measurement with a shoe size chart.
Foot Length
Key MeasurementStand with your heel lightly against a wall and place your foot flat on a sheet of paper. Mark the end of your longest toe and measure the distance from the wall to the mark.
Measure in centimetres for the most accurate comparison with international shoe charts.
Measure Both Feet
Repeat the measurement on the other foot. It is very common for one foot to be slightly longer than the other, so always use the larger measurement when choosing your starting size.
Foot Width
Measure across or around the widest part of the forefoot. Width can be just as important as length in dance shoes, particularly in fitted ballet, jazz and ballroom styles.
Measure While Standing
Take measurements with your full weight on your feet. Standing allows the foot to spread naturally and gives a more realistic measurement than measuring while sitting.
Check the Dance Fit
A correctly fitted dance shoe should feel secure without restricting the toes or causing pressure. Different dance disciplines require different amounts of growing room, compression and heel security, so always follow the model-specific Dance World Fit Advice.
This chart is designed as an international reference rather than a replacement for individual brand sizing. Bloch, Capezio, So Danca, IDS, PortDance, Diamant and other dance footwear brands may use their own conversion systems or fit differently from standard street shoes. Freed Flavia Latin Dance Shoes – Design & Performance
The defining feature of Flavia is its beautifully constructed plaited open-toe vamp. Multiple fine satin straps weave across the forefoot, creating a more detailed and supportive-looking front than a very minimal Latin sandal while leaving the toes free for articulation and floor connection.
Slender straps travel from the forefoot and cross elegantly around the foot and ankle, helping hold the shoe securely through travelling steps, turns and directional changes. A diamante buckle adds a small, polished focal point at the ankle.
Underneath, the 3" straight heel gives Flavia a distinctly Latin profile. It creates more pitch than the lower social styles in our collection, making this a natural next step for dancers who feel comfortable dancing in heels and want a more expressive Latin silhouette.

That plaited front makes Flavia.
Instead of a few simple horizontal straps, the satin is woven into a more intricate vamp. It gives the forefoot visual detail while still keeping the openness expected from a Latin sandal.

Compared with our lower social styles, Flavia places the dancer into a more pronounced Latin pitch. We see it as a lovely progression once a dancer feels confident and stable in heels.

Overall Fit
Flavia is a medium / standard-width Latin sandal and fits true to size for most dancers. Begin with your usual UK shoe size. A Latin sandal should fit closely around the foot without excess length beyond the toes.
Forefoot Fit
The plaited multi-strap vamp should hold the forefoot securely without cutting into the toes. The toes should sit naturally toward the front edge of the sole rather than sliding backwards inside the shoe.
Heel & Ankle
The crossed straps should keep the heel securely positioned as you move. Because Flavia has a 3" heel, a stable fit around the heel and ankle is particularly important.
