Care information
Ballet Rosa dancewear is designed for a close, professional ballet fit. Use your actual body measurements rather than everyday clothing size. For leotards and unitards, girth is particularly important because it reflects the full length of the torso. If you are between sizes or have a longer torso, the larger size is often the more comfortable starting point.

For Ballet Rosa leotards, girth is the most useful measurement when sizes disagree. A dancer can have a small bust and waist but still need the next size because of torso length. If the girth is close to the upper limit, or the dancer has a longer torso, sizing up usually gives a more comfortable result without losing the close ballet silhouette.
How to Measure for Ballet Rosa Dancewear
Measure over underwear or close-fitting clothing using a flexible tape measure. Stand naturally and keep the tape comfortably against the body without pulling it tight.

Girth
Key MeasurementUsing a flexible tape measure, start at the centre of one shoulder. Bring the tape down the front of the torso, through the crotch and back up to the same shoulder, creating one complete loop.
Keep the tape comfortably close to the body without pulling it tight. For Ballet Rosa leotards, girth is especially important when deciding between two sizes.
Bust / Chest
Measure around the fullest part of the bust or chest, keeping the tape straight and level around the body and comfortably close without compressing it.
Waist
Measure around the natural waist, usually the narrowest part of the torso. Keep the tape level and do not pull it too tightly.
Hips
Stand with the feet together and measure around the fullest part of the hips and seat. Keep the tape straight and level around the body.
Height
Stand straight without shoes, with feet flat on the floor, and measure from the floor to the top of the head.
Ballet Rosa does not use height directly in this women and girls garment chart, but it is useful when considering overall body proportion and whether a longer-torso fit may be needed.
Ballet Rosa adult sizes correspond approximately to 36 = XS/Petite, 38 = Small, 40 = Medium, 42 = Large and 44 = XL. The garments are intended to fit closely, but torso length is particularly important in leotards. If the dancer has a longer torso or the girth sits near the top of a size range, consider the next size up. Ballet Rosa also notes that a Long Torso adjustment of approximately 2 cm / 1" can sometimes be appropriate.

Description
A Longer Line, a Softer Sweep
The Ballet Rosa Fabia asymmetrical long mesh dance skirt brings a flowing silhouette to classical ballet, contemporary dance and rehearsals. Its sheer stretch fabric, distinctive seam detailing and uneven hem create a soft sweep around the legs, giving a simple leotard an expressive finish for the studio, stage or camera.
Ballet Rosa Fabia Long Dance Skirt – Design & Performance
Fabia’s defining feature is its asymmetrical three-quarter-length hem. Longer points fall towards the calves, with shorter sections creating an uneven outline that changes as the fabric moves. Visible seam detailing adds definition through the mesh, giving the flowing shape interest even when the dancer is standing still.
The skirt is made from lightweight stretch mesh containing 94% polyamide and 6% elastane. It falls loosely around the hips and legs, opening into a generous sweep during turns and travelling steps. The sheer finish keeps the leotard and the line of the legs visible beneath the longer silhouette.
A neat pull-on waist keeps the upper shape simple, allowing the skirt’s length and drape to take focus. Fabia sits at the natural waist and comes in combined adult sizes, with room through the skirt for the fabric to move freely. Its asymmetry means the finished length should be assessed at the longest points as well as the shorter sections.
Why Dancers Love Fabia
Dance World Wear Profile
The Dance World Wear Profile highlights how each design fits, feels and functions in the studio. Individual fit and feel may vary.
Studio Experience
Fabia brings a noticeable response to changes of direction: the longer sections trail through a turn, then soften back around the legs as you finish the phrase. This gives adagio, repertoire and contemporary travelling sequences an expressive fabric movement of their own. The sheer mesh keeps the dancer visible underneath, while the longer silhouette invites awareness of how the hem follows leg lifts, lower positions and transitions.
Ballet Rosa Tulle Collection – Shape Through Sheer Fabric
Within Ballet Rosa’s Tulle Collection, Fabia gives sheer mesh a longer, more sculptural shape. Its character comes from the uneven hem and the way folds overlap, creating shifting areas of transparency as the dancer moves. Paired with a simple leotard, that interplay of fabric and line becomes the central detail of the outfit.
Product Highlight
✦ Rehearsal & Performance Expression
Fabia is a beautiful choice when the movement of the skirt is part of the look you want to create. Its longer fall gives choreography a soft visual echo, while the asymmetrical outline adds interest to still poses and dance photography.
A sweeping asymmetrical hem gives Fabia its distinctive movement and expressive presence.
Why We Recommend It
We recommend Fabia for dancers who enjoy exploring how fabric responds to a phrase, particularly in repertoire, contemporary work and performance preparation. An understated leotard lets the seam detailing and changing hemline remain the focus, making it easy to build a considered rehearsal or photographic look.
