For Ballet Rosa leotards, girth is the most useful measurement when sizes disagree. A dancer can have a small bust and waist but still need the next size because of torso length. How to Measure for Ballet Rosa Dancewear

Measure over underwear or close-fitting clothing using a flexible tape measure. Stand naturally and keep the tape comfortably against the body without pulling it tight.

Girth

Key Measurement

Using a flexible tape measure, start at the centre of one shoulder. Bring the tape down the front of the torso, through the crotch and back up to the same shoulder, creating one complete loop.

Bust / Chest

Measure around the fullest part of the bust or chest, keeping the tape straight and level around the body and comfortably close without compressing it.

Waist

Ballet Rosa adult sizes correspond approximately to 36 = XS/Petite, 38 = Small, 40 = Medium, 42 = Large and 44 = XL. The garments are intended to fit closely, but torso length is particularly important in leotards. If the dancer has a longer torso or the girth sits near the top of a size range, consider the next size up. Ballet Rosa also notes that a Long Torso adjustment of approximately 2 cm / 1" can sometimes be appropriate.
