Ballet Rosa dancewear is designed for a close, professional ballet fit. Use your actual body measurements rather than everyday clothing size. For leotards and unitards, girth is particularly important because it reflects the full length of the torso. If you are between sizes or have a longer torso, the larger size is often the more comfortable starting point.

For Ballet Rosa leotards, girth is the most useful measurement when sizes disagree. A dancer can have a small bust and waist but still need the next size because of torso length. If the girth is close to the upper limit, or the dancer has a longer torso, sizing up usually gives a more comfortable result without losing the close ballet silhouette.
How to Measure for Ballet Rosa Dancewear
Measure over underwear or close-fitting clothing using a flexible tape measure. Stand naturally and keep the tape comfortably against the body without pulling it tight.

Girth
Key MeasurementUsing a flexible tape measure, start at the centre of one shoulder. Bring the tape down the front of the torso, through the crotch and back up to the same shoulder, creating one complete loop.
Keep the tape comfortably close to the body without pulling it tight. For Ballet Rosa leotards, girth is especially important when deciding between two sizes.
Bust / Chest
Measure around the fullest part of the bust or chest, keeping the tape straight and level around the body and comfortably close without compressing it.
Waist
Measure around the natural waist, usually the narrowest part of the torso. Keep the tape level and do not pull it too tightly.
Hips
Stand with the feet together and measure around the fullest part of the hips and seat. Keep the tape straight and level around the body.
Height
Stand straight without shoes, with feet flat on the floor, and measure from the floor to the top of the head.
Ballet Rosa does not use height directly in this women and girls garment chart, but it is useful when considering overall body proportion and whether a longer-torso fit may be needed.
Ballet Rosa adult sizes correspond approximately to 36 = XS/Petite, 38 = Small, 40 = Medium, 42 = Large and 44 = XL. The garments are intended to fit closely, but torso length is particularly important in leotards. If the dancer has a longer torso or the girth sits near the top of a size range, consider the next size up. Ballet Rosa also notes that a Long Torso adjustment of approximately 2 cm / 1" can sometimes be appropriate.

Quiet Confidence, Beautiful Lines
The Ballet Rosa Darie Leotard brings quiet confidence to class with its smooth boat neckline and elegantly open back. A higher leg line gives this Academy essential a graceful sense of length, while the simple tank silhouette keeps the look effortless.
Ballet Rosa Darie Boat Neck Leotard – Design & Performance
A seamless boat neckline and broad tank straps give Darie its clean, composed front. The neckline sweeps gently across the upper chest, creating a clear frame for the neck and shoulders. Its smooth finish keeps the emphasis on the shape of the garment and the dancer wearing it.
At the back, the opening descends to a softly squared low edge, with shaped seams continuing beneath it to follow the waist. This considered seam placement brings definition to the back of the leotard, adding a subtle architectural detail to the otherwise understated design.
Darie features Ballet Rosa’s high-cut Maya leg line, which rises at the hip to visually lengthen the legs. Soft stretch microfibre follows the body, while full front lining adds useful opacity through the front. Together, these details create a polished silhouette for dancers who enjoy a higher ballet cut.
Why Dancers Love Darie
Dance World Wear Profile
The Dance World Wear Profile highlights how each design fits, feels and functions in the studio. Individual fit and feel may vary.
Studio Experience
Darie suits dancers who like to see a clear shoulder and hip line as they work. The open armholes leave room for port de bras and épaulement, while the low back keeps the shoulder blades uncovered. Through bends and extensions, the body should stay comfortably close, with the boat neckline resting flat and the broad straps remaining easy on the shoulders.
Ballet Rosa Academy – Everyday Training, Thoughtfully Cut
Within Ballet Rosa Academy, the Aspire collection explores how neckline, seam placement and leg cut can shape a studio staple. Darie belongs to the Maya leg line family, created for dancers who enjoy a higher cut at the hip. Its clean tank silhouette expresses that attention to proportion, bringing a polished, individual character to everyday ballet wear.
Product Highlight
✦ Modern Ballet Essential
For dancers drawn to understated dancewear, Darie offers a thoughtful balance of a simple front and an expressive back. It is an easy piece to build a class wardrobe around, with its shaped seams and higher leg line giving the familiar tank leotard a refined finish.
A seamless boat neckline, squared low back and high-cut Maya leg line give Darie its distinctive silhouette.
Dance World Tip
When fitting Darie, smooth the body into place before adjusting the shoulders. The Maya leg line should sit high on the hip, with the seat comfortably in place through a plié and retiré. Choose by girth first so the neckline can lie flat without the straps pulling down on the shoulders.
