International shoe sizes can vary slightly between brands and models. Use your measured foot length as the best starting point, then compare it with the individual brand's size recommendation. Where a product page gives model-specific sizing advice, that guidance should always take priority over a general conversion chart.

Never choose a dance shoe from conversion alone. Ballet, jazz, ballroom and character shoes can fit very differently depending on the last, upper material, width and intended level of compression. Use this table to understand international equivalents, then follow the fit advice for the individual shoe.
How to Measure Your Feet for Dance Shoes
Measure both feet while standing, preferably later in the day. Use the longer foot when comparing your measurement with a shoe size chart.
Foot Length
Key MeasurementStand with your heel lightly against a wall and place your foot flat on a sheet of paper. Mark the end of your longest toe and measure the distance from the wall to the mark.
Measure in centimetres for the most accurate comparison with international shoe charts.
Measure Both Feet
Repeat the measurement on the other foot. It is very common for one foot to be slightly longer than the other, so always use the larger measurement when choosing your starting size.
Foot Width
Measure across or around the widest part of the forefoot. Width can be just as important as length in dance shoes, particularly in fitted ballet, jazz and ballroom styles.
Measure While Standing
Take measurements with your full weight on your feet. Standing allows the foot to spread naturally and gives a more realistic measurement than measuring while sitting.
Check the Dance Fit
A correctly fitted dance shoe should feel secure without restricting the toes or causing pressure. Different dance disciplines require different amounts of growing room, compression and heel security, so always follow the model-specific Dance World Fit Advice.
This chart is designed as an international reference rather than a replacement for individual brand sizing. Bloch, Capezio, So Danca, IDS, PortDance, Diamant and other dance footwear brands may use their own conversion systems or fit differently from standard street shoes. Always use the individual product's Dance World Fit Advice where available.

Best For: Beginner Latin • Social Dancing • Classes • Teaching • Exams • Ballroom & Latin Practice
Description
Description
The International Dance Shoes MST is a classic men's Latin shoe designed around support, comfort and confidence on the dance floor. Part of the Dansport Basics collection, it combines a traditional closed lace-up silhouette with a supportive full sole and 1.5" Latin heel.
Where more advanced Latin shoes often prioritise maximum flexibility, MST takes a steadier approach. Its full sole gives the foot greater structure beneath the arch, making it particularly approachable for dancers developing their technique or anyone who simply prefers more support underfoot.
Personality
Classic • Supportive • Reliable • Understated
No glitter required here :)) MST is deliberately traditional. The smooth Black finish, neat lace-up front and clean closed-toe profile give it an understated appearance that works easily across lessons, social dancing, examinations and practice.
International Dance Shoes MST Men's Latin Shoes – Design & Performance
The defining feature of MST is its full suede sole. Unlike a split-sole Latin shoe, the sole continues beneath the midfoot, creating greater structure and resistance through the shoe.
For newer dancers, that additional support can be useful while developing balance, weight transfer and controlled foot placement. It also makes MST a practical choice for teachers and social dancers who prefer a more traditional feeling beneath the foot rather than an extremely flexible competition-style shoe.
The 1.5" heel introduces the elevated profile expected from a men's Latin shoe while remaining manageable for developing dancers. Inside, gel padding adds cushioning beneath the foot, while the lightweight construction keeps MST from feeling unnecessarily heavy despite its more supportive sole.
A traditional lace-up front allows the fit to be adjusted securely across the instep, helping keep the foot connected to the shoe during travelling steps, turns and changes of direction.

A higher score does not necessarily mean a better shoe – the Dance World Shoe DNA™ shows the balance of characteristics that creates each style's individual feel.
Dance World Notes
A very sensible first men's Latin shoe.
The 1.5" heel introduces proper Latin elevation without combining it with an extremely flexible sole. That makes MST a straightforward step into dedicated men's Latin footwear.
Dance World Tip: If you're deciding between MST and a split-sole men's Latin shoe, think about what you want beneath the arch. Choose MST when support and stability are the priority; move towards a split sole when greater articulation and flexibility become more important to your dancing.
Dance World Fit Advice
Overall Fit
MST should feel comfortably close around the foot, with the heel securely held and no excessive movement inside the shoe.
Toe Fit
The closed toe should give the toes comfortable space without leaving unnecessary length at the front. The foot should remain securely connected to the shoe during movement.
Lace-Up Adjustment
Use the laces to create an even, secure hold across the instep rather than overtightening one area of the foot.
Dance World Starting Point
MST is a regular fitting and fits true to size. We recommend starting with your usual UK dance-shoe size.
Dance World sizing recommendations are intended as a starting point. Fit can vary with foot width, shape and individual preference.
