For Mara leotards, girth is one of the most useful measurements because it reflects the dancer's full torso length. If your measurements fall across different sizes, pay particular attention to girth. Dancers with a longer torso may be more comfortable in the larger size.

How to Measure for Mara Dancewear
Measure over underwear or close-fitting clothing using a flexible tape measure. Stand naturally and keep the tape comfortably against the body without pulling it tight.
Girth
Key MeasurementUsing a flexible tape measure, start at the centre of one shoulder. Bring the tape down the front of the torso, through the crotch and back up the body to the same shoulder, creating one complete loop.
Keep the tape comfortably close to the body without pulling it tight. The dancer should stand naturally while being measured.
Chest
Measure around the fullest part of the chest, keeping the tape straight and level around the body. Keep the tape comfortably against the body without compressing it.
Waist
Measure around the natural waist, usually the narrowest part of the torso. Keep the tape level and do not pull it too tightly.
Hips
Measure around the fullest part of the hips and seat while standing naturally. Keep the tape level all the way around the body.
Height
Stand straight without shoes, with feet flat on the floor, and measure from the floor to the top of the head.
Mara Dancewear uses different size structures depending on the garment. For leotards, compare chest, waist, hips and especially girth. For skirts, waist and hips are the most useful measurements. For warm-up pants, use waist and hips together with Mara's height guidance to choose between XS/S and M/L.

Aura is one of Mara Dancewear's defining designs, and Mocha brings out its softer, more fashion-led side without taking it away from serious dancewear.
The high neckline creates a beautifully clean upper line, with the functional front zip introducing both structure and versatility. Zip it higher for Aura's sharp signature silhouette or open it slightly to reveal more of the neck and collarbones. Against Mocha, that simple adjustment feels particularly effective - taking the leotard from streamlined and athletic to softer and more relaxed in seconds.
Mara Dancewear's signature ribbed performance fabric sits closely against the body with supportive compression, excellent four-way stretch and strong shape recovery. The fine ribbing gives the Mocha colour extra depth, while the flattering high-cut leg visually lengthens the lower body. From behind, the open back balances the stronger front and keeps the shoulder line beautifully exposed.
Inside, Aura is fully lined for secure coverage and confidence. The lining is exceptionally soft - one of the details we continue to love most about Mara Dancewear. It creates a lovely contrast with the supportive ribbed exterior: gently held on the outside, beautifully soft against the skin.

Studio Experience
Mocha has a lovely way of making Aura feel softer without losing its strength. The warm colour takes some of the athletic sharpness out of the high neckline, while the ribbed texture becomes more visible as the fabric moves and catches the light.
Technically, everything we like about Aura is still here: supportive compression, excellent stretch, an adjustable neckline and reassuring coverage. Add the exceptionally soft lining and this becomes a particularly easy leotard to reach for on full studio days.
Dance World Notes
- This might be our favourite Aura neutral. Mocha has the versatility of a classic studio colour but enough warmth and richness to make the whole leotard feel more considered.
- The ribbing looks particularly beautiful here. Light and shadow move through the warm brown surface, giving a solid colour much more depth than you'd expect.
- It's incredibly easy to style. Mocha works with traditional ballet pink just as naturally as cream, black and tonal brown warm-ups, a surprisingly adaptable colour for a dance wardrobe.
- The zip gives you two very different moods. Fully zipped feels strong and streamlined; worn slightly open, Mocha becomes softer and almost effortless.
