Size & Fit Advice

All shoes are displayed in UK sizes. The size printed on the shoe or box may differ due to the manufacturer's international sizing system.

Runs small – start approximately 1–1½ UK sizes up from the measured foot.
For a narrower foot or closer dance fit, start towards 1 size up. For a broader foot or where sensible growing allowance is required, 1½ sizes up may be more appropriate.

Always measure the child's foot rather than using their current school-shoe or everyday-trainer size.

There should be comfortable room around the toes, but the heel should remain secure when walking, rising and dancing. Dance World's children's S0538 return data currently recommends 1–1½ sizes up.

Description

The Bloch S0538 Children's Boost Dance Trainers are made for young dancers who need more from their trainers. Supportive, cushioned and exceptionally versatile, they combine the protection of a substantial dance sneaker with the flexibility children need for proper studio movement.

From jazz and commercial to hip hop and Irish dance practice, Boost is one of our favourite choices for busy young dancers whose training doesn't fit neatly into just one style.

Made for Growing Dancers Who Do a Bit of Everything

Unlike an ordinary sports trainer, Boost is designed specifically around dance movement. The split sole allows the foot to flex and articulate more naturally, while the dedicated spin spot beneath the forefoot helps young dancers turn and pivot without a conventional rubber sole gripping excessively against the studio floor.

There's plenty of protection underneath too. An D.R.T cushioned heel and compression-moulded EVA sock liner help soften repeated impact, making Boost particularly useful for energetic classes involving jumps, travelling movement and longer rehearsal sessions.

Built-in arch support and elevation create a more supportive feeling through the middle of the foot, while the adjustable lacing allows the trainer to be secured comfortably around different foot shapes.

We stock Boost in Black – an easy, practical choice across a wide range of dance classes. If your child's dance school specifies a particular trainer or shoe style, always check their uniform requirements before ordering.

Why Choose Dance Trainers Instead of Regular Trainers?

Everyday trainers are designed mainly for walking, running and forward movement. Their rubber soles can create too much resistance when dancers need to turn, pivot or change direction quickly.

Boost is designed differently. Its split dance sole allows greater movement through the foot, while the dedicated spin spot helps reduce resistance during turns. At the same time, the cushioned heel and supportive construction provide considerably more impact protection than a minimal jazz shoe.

For young dancers taking energetic jazz, commercial, hip hop or mixed dance classes, this combination can make Boost a particularly useful studio trainer.

Dance World Tip

Don't judge Boost by how stiff it looks in your hand. It is a much more substantial shoe than a jazz shoe, but the split underneath is what allows the foot to articulate. Once laced securely, ask your child to point, rise through the foot and try a few dance movements rather than judging the flexibility from standing alone.

How Should Children's Bloch Boost Trainers Fit?

Boost is known for fitting small, so don't simply order your child's usual trainer or school-shoe size.

Always measure your child's feet first. Everyday shoes often already contain growing room, so using that size as the starting point can accidentally add extra allowance twice.

Start approximately 1–1½ UK sizes above the measured foot
Comfortable dance fit with sensible growing room

For a narrower foot or a child who prefers a closer fit, start towards 1 size up. For a broader foot or where a little more growing room is needed, 1½ sizes up may be more suitable.

Quick fit check: Lace both shoes securely and ask your child to walk, rise onto the balls of the feet and try a few dance movements. There should be comfortable toe room, but the heel should remain secure and the foot shouldn't slide backwards and forwards inside the trainer.

Dance World Size Guide is intended as a helpful starting point. Every child's feet are different, so the best size can vary with foot shape, width, socks, growth and preferred fit.

A little growing room is useful; a trainer that's moving independently from the foot isn't. If you're between sizes, prioritise a secure heel and instep while leaving comfortable space for the toes.
