Care information

Return all needles, safety pins and tools to the tin immediately after use and keep the case securely closed.

Store the kit somewhere clean and dry. Do not place damp ribbons, elastic or pointe shoes inside the metal tin.

Needles, pins and the quick unpick are sharp. Younger dancers should use the kit with assistance from a parent, teacher or another responsible adult.

Before Choosing Your Size

Take dancewear measurements over underwear or close-fitting clothing using a flexible tape measure. For shoes, measure both feet while standing and use the longer measurement as your general starting point.

Bust / Chest Measure around the fullest part of the chest, keeping the tape straight and level.

Waist Measure around the natural waist, usually the narrowest part of the torso.

Hips Measure around the fullest part of the hips and seat, keeping the tape level.

Girth Start at one shoulder, measure down the front of the torso, through the crotch and back to the same shoulder in one continuous loop.

Foot Length Measure from heel to longest toe while standing. Measure both feet and use the longer measurement as your general starting point.

The BLOCH A0524 Classic Pointe Shoe Ribbon Stitch Kit brings traditional satin ribbon, wide elastic and the core sewing tools together in one compact tin. It is an excellent choice for dancers who prefer the familiar hold and polished finish of non-stretch pointe shoe ribbon.

BLOCH A0524 Classic Ribbon Stitch Kit – Contents & Use

The kit contains approximately 2.2m of soft double-faced satin ribbon. Unlike stretch ribbon, this traditional style retains a consistent length when wrapped, creating the familiar feel and neat classical finish preferred by many dancers and teachers.

Approximately 50cm of wide, thick elastic is included to help keep the heel of the pointe shoe securely connected to the foot. Its placement and tension can be adjusted according to the dancer’s shoe, foot and preferred attachment method.

A spool of wax-coated pink thread, two sewing needles and two safety pins provide the essentials for attaching the ribbon and elastic. The coordinated pink thread helps the finished stitching blend discreetly into the lining and satin.

A quick unpick is included for carefully removing misplaced or worn stitching, while the sewing advice leaflet offers a helpful starting point. Everything stores inside the reusable metal tin, keeping the small tools together between new shoes and repairs.
